Our Version 4 Miata Big Brake Kit goes another step beyond our lesser kits and uses four DBA5000 rotors with Alumalite center hats made from light weight aircraft grade aluminum connected to directional slotted rotors with NAS bolts and lock nuts (notice more connection points than the lesser kits and higher grade hardware, higher grade rotors, higher grade hats). The bottom line is that these rotors usually last our track users three or four times longer than the rotors in our version 1 and 2 kits, and nearly double the life of even the version 3 kit rotors (thus, the greater entry cost is paid back several times in rotor replacement savings with many of our track customers reporting YEARS of track use on one set of these rotors.). These custom rotors also feature DBA's Thermal Stability Profiling (TSP). A bonus feature is Thermo-Graphic paint markings that indicate the peak temperature range you reached on track (which helps you fine tune your pad selection).
Also, DBA's AlumaLite hats provide the greatest resistance to distortion for uniform disc expansion and added thermal protection for your bearings.
Brian's Application Notes: You get what you pay for...and EVERYTHING in our version 4 kit is much more stout than in our discount Wilwood kits. The hats are far superior with 10 connection points to the rotor using NAS fasteners (compared with 6 connections to the rotor in our Wilwood discount kits). The brackets are several times stronger, the rotors are MUCH higher density DBA5000 rotors that will last several times longer than the Wilwood rotors, the rotors include thermographic side markings like those used in Formula One so that you can track your peak temps and better select pads, the rotors cool MUCH more effectively thanks to the patented design features discussed above. Finally, the lines are custom made for a direct fit and don't need the numerous adapter fittings used by the Wilwood kit (skipping adapters means less chance for brake fluid leaks!).
