Finally...a solution for all you owners of JIC or OHLINS or similar coilovers on RX8 or NC generation Miata which use the high clearance springs in the rear with the factory aluminum top hats. This Delrin Top Perch allows you to use shorter linear race coilover springs of your choice.

We use these to run Swift Coilover springs in the rear on our Ohlins (70mm X 152mm) (Note that owners of JIC and OHLINS coilovers need 70mm / 2.5" diameter springs).

These will also work with 2.5" / 65mm diameter springs.

Picture shows one Delrin Upper Spring Perch in action between the spring and the Factory aluminum top hat and another Delrin Top Perch is in bottom left of picture (bottom right item is for helper springs and NOT included). NOT FOR USE IN COILOVER CONVERSIONS, must be a REAL COILOVER wherein you can have some pre-load on springs.

Price is PER CONVERTER so order two if you want two! Yes, we can also get the Swift Coilover springs of your choice, we have many listed in the coilover section but if you don't see what you need just email us.

INSTALL NOTES, you need about 3/8th spacer to get the shock more straight so it won't rub the Delrin adapter and 5mm longer bolt (40mm instead of stock 35mm bolt). Depending on the coilover you may also need to look at the sleeve that slides into the bottom of the shock (on our Ohlins the provided sleeve is sufficient). We offer those bolts and spacers as a separate item in our store.

NOTE you likely MUST use shorter springs in 70mm diameter with this item like we did and noted above. Most use either 6 inch or 7 inch rear springs, depending on the coilover and how low they want to set their MX5. Note we cannot tell you the perfect spring length because there are too many variations in coilover design (some bottom couplers are long, some are short, etc). Thus, be prepared to take your own measurements and figure it out, perhaps some trial and error on spring lengths, or do NOT order this item.

After reading many other positive reviews on both the GWR and Miata forums I finally decided to buy this product. My main concern for many months was whether or not I was up to the task of installing the header. But with the excellent instructions on Brian's forum as well as several Miata forum threads it turned out easier than I expected. After receiving notice that the header would arrive on a Friday afternoon, I began the disassembly process. After about 3 hours I had the stock manifold out. Later that afternoon the new catted header arrived right on schedule. And it is a thing of beauty. I opted for the stainless version. Installation on Saturday morning took another 3 hours, although I could have shaved some time off of that but I was actually enjoying the process of double checking torque values and cleaning up my engine compartment. I already have the GWR catted midpipe, so that connection was a snap. I put everything back together, reconnected my battery, and went for a drive. NO CODES! Nice throaty sound with my RSII muffler, and a significant boost in power and low/mid torque. Another happy camper here. I since have added a M-E tune and I feel I have realized all of the gains that Brian has achieved on his 2012 project Miata. I've put several hundred miles on my Miata since the install with zero problems. This is the car that Mazda should have built all along. Thanks Brian.
