This MX5 Miata Big Brake Kit was a year in development with our friends at Racing Brake, and extensively tested on our Time Attack and autocross MX5 Miata. This kit uses 12.7 inch rotors which are an inch larger than stock. Includes two aluminum four piston calipers, two-piece center mount rotors, 7075-T6 aluminum adapters for bolt up use, and brake pads. Rotors are DRILLED AND SLOTTED and use EDP Coating w/cross cut grinding on friction surface.

The two-piece construction of the rotor keeps weight down and with the switch to aluminum calipers saves over 3 pounds of unsprung weight per corner! These are true floating two-piece rotors with patent pending center-mount design. The alloyed iron formula adds strength and heat resistance, and heat treating further improves rotor performance for a more uniform and stabilized microstructure. EDP Coating w/cross cut grinding on friction surface. The pistons in these calipers are stainless steel instead of aluminum to substantially reduce the heat transfer rate (approx 1/10 of aluminum) from the pad to brake fluid.

Double Sealing System: uniquely designed double seals in addition to primary hydraulic seal (the dust seal acts as a secondary back up seal in case primary seal fails) in addition to its normal dust sealing. Brake pad pins and banjo connections were re-designed for easier installation and pad replacement.

Caliper Surface Coating: Liquid paint is used, which is more resistant to chipping than powder coating. The center-mount flanges for hat mounting to the rotor ring have several benefits. It allows the ring to be used on either side of the vehicle simply by mounting the hat on either side of the ring (unidirectional); The stress load transferred from the ring to the hat is balanced; Air inlets are widely open to both inboard and outboard sides of the rotor for more even temperature on both sides of the disc surface. Heat transfer from the disc surfaces to the hat is even and minimized by increasing the flange length and the airflow around the flanges.

Mounting flanges are on both friction surfaces for excellent heat balance. Full floating design uses 10.9 grade alloyed hardware. Hardware is DACRO coated and crimp locking. DACRO is highly corrosion resistant and provides a film for easier movement between the hat and rotor ring as disc expands and contracts and the crimp design provides positive engagement without rattling or torque loss at temperature.

Requires 17 inch wheels and fits some of our Enkei choices. Sorry, needs spacer to fit the 17x9 RP-F1. Sorry, don't yet know if it fits stock 17 inch wheels because we don't have any stock wheels to test fit. Feel free to email us for the fitment template! No brake lines included in the kit, but they are available on this website (and this kit does work with stock lines and our stock line upgrades).
