Good-Win Racing has long been the leader in Miata big brake kits, selling far more kits and far more options than any other company. We designed the original FOUR WHEEL Miata Big Brake kit over a decade ago for the track users running lots of additional horsepower and needing additional stopping power. But for years many asked for an even better Miata four wheel big brake kit that included slotted rotors front and rear that were already assembled to the the best aluminum hats available to make installation easier and the entire assembly LIGHTER. Our earlier version 3 kits met these demands but our Version 4 Miata Big Brake Kit goes another step and uses four DBA5000 rotors with Alumalite center hats made from light weight aircraft grade aluminum connected to directional slotted rotors with NAS bolts and lock nuts on 10 connection points between hat and rotor for much higher consistency and reliability and stability over a much longer term of use (our old Version 3 was 8 connection points, the lowest cost Wilwood kits are just 6 points of hat to rotor connection).

The version 4 rotors use DBA's patented "Kangaroo Paw" ventilation technology. The Kangaroo Paw design features a series of 144 diamond and tear drop shaped pillars and columns, individually spaced between the rotor faces. This system provides two key advantages. One advantage of this design is the ability to cool the rotor faster than ever before. This works on the same principal as an air-impeller, designed to extract hot air. As the disc rotor rotates, aerodynamic turbulence around the individual pillars and columns is generated, increasing the force of hot-air out from within the internal areas of the rotor. The second advantage is the increased dimensional stability across the disc rotor, directly achieved by the individually spaced pillars and columns. These advantages of better cooling and better surface stability increase the disc rotor efficiency by as much as 20 per cent when compared to conventional rotor designs. A 20 per cent increase in disc rotor efficiency, directly translates to reduced brake operating temperatures, brake fade, disc rotor stresses, disc thickness variation, run-out and shudder.

The bottom line is that these rotors usually last our track users three or four times longer than the rotors in the less expensive brake kits (thus, the greater entry cost is paid back several times in rotor replacement savings with many of our track customers reporting years of track use on one set of these rotors.). These custom rotors also feature DBA's Thermal Stability Profiling (TSP). A bonus feature is Thermo-Graphic paint markings (see above picture)that indicate the peak temperature range you reached on track (which helps you fine tune your pad selection). Also, DBA's AlumaLite hats provide the greatest resistance to distortion for uniform disc expansion and added thermal protection for your bearings.

This FOUR wheel Version 4 kit also includes Wilwoods latest DP6 Calipers! This ultra low profile six piston caliper still fits in 15 inch wheels in same manner as our four piston units do. The DP6 marks a noteworthy step in the evolution of the DynaPro caliper series. DP6 calipers offer the performance advantages of a larger pad and a six piston differential bore configuration. As with the previous DynaPro models, the strength of the DP6 is a combination of process and design. Premium grade alloy billets are stress-flow forged resulting in a highly efficient, high strength body. Stress flow forging re-aligns the internal grain structure of the metal within the contour of the caliper body. This process is proven to provide superior strength over any other process derived from castings or straight billet block machining. FEA assisted solid modeling design technology was employed to find the optimum balance between lightweight with superior strength against deflection. In addition to the sturdy, yet stylish body, the DP6 incorporates race proven technology and the latest Wilwood performance enhancements. Pad clamping force is generated by six heavy wall STAINLESS pistons configured in a leading to trailing edge differential bore pattern. The heavy wall pistons have been re-engineered to fully resist backside deflection at high pressures while maintaining balanced pad loading for even wear over the length of the pad. Stainless steel resists corrosion while inhibiting direct heat transfer from the pads to caliper body, seals, and fluid. The DP6 uses the upgraded type 6712 pad that provide the larger overall volume size from the previous Dynalite and DynaPro four-piston models. The pads are retaining with exclusive Wilwood Quick-E clips for simplified pad service and maintenance without caliper removal. Stainless steel SRS bridge plates are used to dampen engagement harmonics, eliminate pad rattle, and protect the caliper bridges from gouging by the pad edges. Four corner bleeds and internal fluid passages accommodate front or rear mounting and simplified gas evacuation regardless of mounting position.

Also includes matching Stainless lines Front and Rear, Wilwood Q pads for front and Porterfield R4S pads rear, four aluminum hats and four rotors (10.75 inch rear, 11 inch front) fully assembled, our T6 aluminum mounting brackets front and rear and all hardware needed. BRIAN'S APPLICATION NOTES: Version 3 is great for street and moderate track work but the more stabilized and better cooling version 4 rotors will last the track enthusiast years longer.

UPDATE 2012--New "T-Slot" DBA PATTERN is smoother, more quiet and unidirectional (can be swapped left to right). All kit DBA5000 rotors use the same silver finish aluminum hats as before, as shown in pictures below.

After reading many other positive reviews on both the GWR and Miata forums I finally decided to buy this product. My main concern for many months was whether or not I was up to the task of installing the header. But with the excellent instructions on Brian's forum as well as several Miata forum threads it turned out easier than I expected. After receiving notice that the header would arrive on a Friday afternoon, I began the disassembly process. After about 3 hours I had the stock manifold out. Later that afternoon the new catted header arrived right on schedule. And it is a thing of beauty. I opted for the stainless version. Installation on Saturday morning took another 3 hours, although I could have shaved some time off of that but I was actually enjoying the process of double checking torque values and cleaning up my engine compartment. I already have the GWR catted midpipe, so that connection was a snap. I put everything back together, reconnected my battery, and went for a drive. NO CODES! Nice throaty sound with my RSII muffler, and a significant boost in power and low/mid torque. Another happy camper here. I since have added a M-E tune and I feel I have realized all of the gains that Brian has achieved on his 2012 project Miata. I've put several hundred miles on my Miata since the install with zero problems. This is the car that Mazda should have built all along. Thanks Brian.

Wanted to say thanks. The exhaust system fit perfectly, no drone at steady throttle, but a nice sound winding thru the gears. And it does sound a lot like my old Alfa. The Racing Beat lowering springs are just right. Appreciate the tech advice and the service.
