Hard Dog Hitch

I hesitated buying this because I couldn't tell how stout it was built. It rocks! I easily carry my mountain bike now, and can take two with no problem, so I can drive a friend to the coast. The Swagman XC2 bike rack is perfect, too, as a strong, but light rack that can carry two bikes. I usually trim off about five unneeded pounds by leaving the mounts for the second bike behind as I'm usually riding solo or meeting friends at the trailhead. I like the strength and simplicity of this Hitch over their "hidden" option as it just seems more secure, and it is unobtrusive in appearance. I cut away just enough of the rear plastic bumper (from way underneath) that the mount is just visible at the bottom edge of the bumper, but gives easy access to accept the rack. Oh, but drilling through the bumper was ridiculous, but I was unwilling to take shortcuts, so I persisted. I also have upgraded springs (from Goodwin Racing) and so having the extra weight behind my rear bumper is no thang. The springs were on the car before the Hitch so I can't speak for ride and handling with stock springs and a bike on the back. Go for it! It's a well built product. Happy trails!
