BRIAN'S APPLICATION NOTES: In case it is not obvious from the photo above, the item is sent bare steel so that you have the option of welding to it. Typical options that customers weld to the rail are eyes for harness clip in. That means it may arrive with a petina of rust already starting and it should be cleaned up with a little steel wool and hit with a quick coat of spray paint before install. Most drivers use these with a combination of ALL THREE of the following: Sparco seats, Sparco side mounts, and Sparco sliders (rails are pre-drilled for sliders). In my own Miata I skip the slider because that gets me another half inch lower in the car but that meant I drilled additional holes to get the side mounts directly onto these rails.
Note that MOST seats are too wide for the Miata and even with our rails you will NOT fit them in the car without moving metal around the trans tunnel and removing inner door skins. Thus, important to spend some time considering your seat choices and pick a narrow seat to avoid complications on install.
Don't call and ask us what seat to use because that is like asking what shoes and jeans fit you. You really must show up to events and see what other Miata owners are using and then SIT IN THOSE seats to figure out what seat actually fits YOU. Sparco Speed is a popular choice, but nobody knows if that fits you until you sit in it. These are made in small batches and typically take at least a few days to make and ship, please consider that fact in your build plans when you order.
