DESCRIPTION
The F1 Racing lightweight chromoly Miata flywheel is a fun performance upgrade over a stock flywheel.Lightweight flywheels provide significantly improved throttle response and acceleration by enabling torque to be transmitted to the wheels faster. The chromoly steel material allows for a high heat capacity and strength, preventing your clutch disc from overheating under extreme use.
Weight is 10 lbs (90-93 Miata stock flywheel is 17.5 lbs). Does not include new hardware, most customers re-use the factory bolts.

F1 Racing Lightweight Chromoly Miata Flywheel
Bought this to pair with the stage 2, 3 puck exedy to throw in my car for the season and I am very pleased. I bought this because of the appealing price tag. I was a little skeptical not having any reviews and not knowing the manufacturer. Knowing it was on GWR I knew these guys had to at least try it out. It's a decent unit. pros and cons listed below.
CONS:
A big one, it seems the tolerance is too high where they mill out for the pilot bearing. It can slide in and out with ease. Make sure when you remove your alignment tool it doesn't pull the bearing out of the flywheel. Also if you have to remove the the trans to align the input shaft splines, make sure it doesn't pull out then. Once it is in there it can't come out. Because the input shaft holds it in, and it can not fall out on the engine side. A little annoyance that requires some extra attention, some scotch tape holding the bearing in may solve this issue, bit i was able to accomplish this without.
Another one is that you have to install the dowell pins yourself. A press makes this easy, I did it with a hammer. Fat side goes in the flywheel, make sure the ridge where it tapers down is flush with the flywheel. You will understand when doing it.
Now the PROS:
It's a lightweight flywheel, it makes your car super rowdy and fun to drive. Cant validate any noise increase because of the exhaust, but no crazy noises. I expected this setup to be very hard to drive, but it just takes a little more time to let it engage with the 3 puck. Definitely recommend. Worth saving the 150-200 bucks over the bigger brands!
