DESCRIPTION

PAIR of new Engine mounts. For the serious Miata performance enthusiast we bring you polyurethane motor bushings for the NA and NB Mazda Miata MX5 in substantially upgraded mounts. The stock 1.8 Miata motor soft engine mounts allow a great deal of motor movement...so much that autocrossers and track day racers have complained to us for years about high speed shifts that can be vague and difficult. Our upgraded Mazda MotorSport bushings (sold elsewhere on this same website) fix just half the problem but leave the weak stock mounts (which also tend to deteriorate over time).

These COMPLETE upgrade mounts dramatically reduce motor movement for much more precise operation of your shifts and much more direct application of power to the ground.

Price is per PAIR.

What durometer is best for you?

AWR has been making high performance Miata mounts since 1995. The design has been updated to a larger bushing size which helps reduce NVH, specifically reducing cabin vibration. Alongside a larger bushing design, they recently launched a tested and proven 62 durometer Energy Suspension polyurethane option which is perfect for daily and street use. Are you looking for stability without much NVH transferred to your vehicle? 62 durometer is the perfect solution for you.

62 durometer is recommended for daily drivers with limited modifications where minimizing NVH is the priority.
70 is recommended for intermediate modification levels and for mixed use between street and competition.
88 - 95 durometer is recommended for track-focused builds.
You can always opt for a different durometer if your first choice doesn't suit your needs, all of AWR's bushings can be swapped out or replaced!

62 durometer (ultra soft)
70 durometer (soft)
88 durometer (medium)
95 durometer (hard)

BRIAN'S APPLICATION NOTES: We use a set of 70 durometer in our supercharged Miata. The 95 and 88 Durometer are so stiff they should be considered RACE CAR ONLY...track and autocrossers who also drive on the street should look to our 70 durometer mounts!!! Note they take about 500 miles of use to break in. (photo shows stock piece on right) Yes, even the 70 are massively stiffer than stock and should only be used by those racing.

AWR Complete Upgraded Motor Mounts

I had a set on my 1999 miata that i total so i bougth an other set for my new 2001 . That is the part that i change that made the most difference on the way it drive . Went again with the 70 duro . The shift are now so much better and the vibration make you connect more with the car . The only downside is the hood that you see vibrating but the feeling in the car is so improve that the downside dont mather that much

I just installed one of the 70 duro mounts in my 2004 MSM Miata. I wanted to change out the mounts in order to improve the shifting precision. I autocross the car and since it's a 6 speed MSM I have to go into 3 gear on most courses and in the past have missed the 2-3 shift. Brian indicated that these mounts will cure that problem so I wanted to give them a try.

I only installed the passenger (right) side mount for 2 reasons, 1) I had read that replacing just the one side eliminates most of the vagueness while imparting less NHV than using both mounts and 2) my car has AC and since it's a turbo it would be very involved (remove AC, turbo lines, etc.) to replace the drivers (left) side mount so I wanted to give this a try first. I left the stock mount in on the drivers side.

So I got the job done and yes when I started the car for the first time there definitely was noticeably more vibration at idle! It dissipates as you start driving and at highway speeds in my case is pretty much unnoticeable. After just a few miles the vibration was less at idle too. I only put on maybe 50 miles before my first race with the new mount installed. It did make a big difference in the shifting! I never had any trouble making the 2-3 shift and for practical purposes don't think that I will need to change the drivers side over nor would I want to if it would add even more NHV... is anyone looking for a brand new 70 duro drivers side mount! lol.

Brian says that the NHV will continue to diminish a bit more over the next 500 miles which is good as this is a combination street & autocross car.

Hope this info is useful!

These mounts aren't so hard to install, but understand that prying your stock ones out from under/between the block is difficult.

Performance: These clamp down the engine well, if not quite as much as the 'race application only' banner would suggest. Shifts feel better, and the shift lever moves around significantly less than before.

NVH: At idle, I can see my hood and passenger seat vibrate. I can also feel the dash and steering wheel vibrate. These go away at anything above idle, but at certain RPMs you can hear the dash and the top vibrating. The mounts also give the engine a pleasant rumble. I don't mind the extra nvh, but the casual driver will probably find it irritating unless they habitually drive with the top down which dispels the unpleasant sounds.

Definitely a must mod for those who aren't afraid of a little more nvh.

I just installed these motor mounts and I was speechless for the ~20 miles I have put on them. The car is completely different. There is a noticeable increase in NVH, but it's a pleasant baritone rumble through the chassis at idle. Once the car is moving, there really isn't any difference from before. Throttle response is almost immediate now instead of the press-and-wait response of the rubber mounts. In my opinion, these have been my best modification to date in regards to making me feel more connected to the car.
