DESCRIPTION

The Racing Beat exhaust for the 2.0 and 2.5L Mazda CX-5 is an ideal upgrade for the CX-5 owner looking to add a bit more sporting tone and attitude to their driving experience. Racing Beat's CX5 muffler systems were originally designed for Mazda's roll-out of the CX-5 at both the 2012 SEMA and LA Auto shows. These design-concept CX-5 models each prominently featured a Racing Beat stainless dual outlet on both the CX-5 180 (blue) and CX-5 Urban (flat black) models.

Mazda included a non-removable catalytic converter unit in the mid-pipe section of the vehicle that unfortunately prevents the easy installation of a true "bolt-on, cat-back" exhaust system. The Racing Beat CX-5 muffler section attaches directly to the outlet of the stock mid-pipe section using a Mazda OE mounting flange and utilizes the original hanger mounting positions. The Racing Beat CX-5 exhaust is 50-state emissions compliant.

All Racing Beat exhaust components are tuned in-house to provide a balance of tone quality and aggressive spirit. The CX-5 exhaust has been developed for use on the Skyactiv engine and produces a very deep, low exhaust note - without any harsh, buzzy, or droning sounds. Whether driving in-town or on the highway, the Racing Beat exhaust system produces an ideal tone to match the personality of the fun-to-drive and sporty CX-5!

RB Driving Notes: The video of the Racing Beat CX-5 Exhaust was taken with a GoPro camera placed approximately 3' behind the car. The audio in the video reflects the deep tone of the Racing Beat exhaust note at the rear of the vehicle, but the sound inside the cabin of the CX-5 is more subdued and is definitely never too loud or overbearing. Part of the Skyactiv fuel economy strategy is to utilize automatic transmission shift patterns around the 2200 RPM range, which aids in improved fuel economy while also keeping the exhaust note at a modest level. Causal driving after the installation of the Racing Beat exhaust produced a very pleasing exhaust note during normal acceleration, but the exhaust note comes alive with a more aggressive tone when the engine downshifts and higher RPMs are achieved during hard acceleration, passing, etc..

RB Fitting Notes: Trailer Hitch

The Racing Beat Exhaust for the CX-5 is compatible with the Mazda OEM trailer hitch (Mazda part number: 0000-8E-R01 thru R06).

With regards to other aftermarket hitch assemblies, while we've noted that the Racing Beat CX-5 muffler canister is actually smaller in both width and length as compared to the stock muffler, the variations in design and placement of the attachment arms of other aftermarket hitch assemblies may present fitting issues with the larger diameter muffler outlet pipes on the RB muffler. (This not to say the RB muffler is not compatible with other brands of aftermarket hitches, we've just not had the opportunity to test fit our muffler with these other brands.)

Racing Beat Power Pulse CX-5 Exhaust

I JUST LOVED this RB exhaust on my Cx5 , very easy to install my self and the Custumer service is very friendly and walked me through for the right part # to my Mazda CX-5.

Installed today and was very impressed. Slightly more noise but not at all extreme.

Outstanding change to Turbo Motor. Before RPM & power would fall off by 4800, and shift was at 5000. Even though rated power is at 5000. Now with a K& N filter and this exhaust Power pulls through to the new shift level of 5300. Considerable stronger torque in the mid range and now a broad power level compared to just a torque motor before. Considering this makes the transmission relax more and rely on the stronger torque I expect mileage to also improve although it already beats the rating.
Perfect addition and keeps the spouse happy with low noise level.

After looking high and low for exhaust upgrades for the CX 5, I found myself purchasing Racing Beat Power Pulse.

Pros: Adds a great look to the backside of the vehicle.
Noticed a slight increase in MPG in town.
Sight more power off the line and when skyactiv comes alive around 3.5k and 4k.
Took about 30 min. to install without jacking up the car. (soak those rubber mounts with a lubricant.)

Cons: Not show car quality welds.
Spot welds are very noticeable on muffler.
Exhaust tone is a bit on the mellow side unless your in the power band or at a cold start.
Weight is just about the same as stock.

In closing I wished other exhaust builders would step it up and build a axle back. I'm not totally dissatisfied but I'm glad I paid less than most for this exhaust system.

Purchased this for my 2014 AWD CX-5 2.5l to give it a bit more of a "zoom-zoom" sound. Installation was beyond easy and took about 20 mins tops. We backed up the car on a hill and didn't even need to jack the car up to install it. This exhaust is about 10-15% louder then stock and has a nice deep tone. The 2.5 Sky-active Mazda's tend to have loud engines to begin with so adding the RB Power Pulse balances the car and brings that noise to the rear. When your slowing down to a stop you can now hear the car downshift instead of just feeling it which is an added bonus. You can hear the exhaust the most during the lower RPMS (1k-4K) range where the car tends to hangout if you drive an automatic. When you are at cruising speed the exhaust is close to stock (sound level wise) which means 0% drone if you were wondering. I also own a NC Miata with a GWR Roadster II exhaust (25% Louder over stock) in comparison the CX-5 tone is very similar but doesn't have the burbles and just slightly quieter. This is why I give it about a 10-15% louder then stock. If you purchase this exhaust and its not loud enough for you then you could always delete the resonator. If your using your CX-5 as a family car this exhaust is a perfect option when considering exhausts. Overall an amazing exhaust and kudos to Racing Beat on developing this product.... Too bad our cars didn't come stock with it.
