Ohlins FULL RACE DFV COILOVERS 12KG Front, 7kg Rear

DESCRIPTION

Race revalving is done to order. Please allow 3-4 weeks, in addition to normal transit time.

Here is what we use on our own racecar, using different rate Swift springs for different events and surface conditions. These are revalved by OHLINS for higher rate springs, and we add one set of front and one set of rear SWIFT RACE SPRINGS (NOT SHOWN IN PICTURE)

Tell us what rates you want...otherwise we ship 12kg front, 7kg rear. Note normal Ohlins kit is 8 inch long front springs and 7 inch rear, for much higher rates in the race kit like 11/7 the normal is 7 inch front and 6 inch rear. Some customers running 13kg and more report lowering more than two inches required 6 inch front springs (softer 11kg front will do over 2 inches of lowering with a 7 inch front spring). If in doubt try 7 inch front and 6 inch rear. SWIFT SPRINGS NOT SHOWN IN THIS PICTURE..but included in addition to the standard springs. Again, this RACER kit is also upgraded with ULTRA LOW WEIGHT Swift Coilover Springs (Front springs just 3 pounds each, rear springs just 2 pounds each!!).

Updated product for 2010, super light-weight design with a majority of the parts in aluminum and on top of that all shocks have proven through extensive corrosion tests according to ISO 9227. This package comprises aluminum bodied, mono tube design shocks, with 30 clicks of adjustment.

Brian's Application Notes I have used Ohlins for decades in my motorcycles and have always been pleased with the ability of this brand to provide both great handling and great ride quality and their NC RX8 Miata coilover kit continues this tradition. The ride is amazing for these spring rates...we set top time of day in our local autocross on our first day out with these installed....simply amazing. One of the great features includes INDEPENDENT control of height and spring pre-load!

The BIG feature the Ohlins gets you that lesser choices do not is the DFV, the dual flow valving. That makes a critical difference at the limit. I can push the 325hp NC below over the rumble strips at Laguna and if late in the day I take a little too much of those red and yellow curbs then the secondary pathway in the Ohlins opens instantly to absorb that blow that would otherwise pop the car hard upwards and offline. What it boils down to is confidence at the limit, a lot more of it with the OHLINS. With the lesser priced choices I can be almost as fast but I must leave a little more margin between the car and those curbs because otherwise flirting with having a spin into the inside wall after this turn. For daily drivers that dual flow valving means running over a bad pothole in the road is absorbed by the secondary pathway instead of deep in your spine!

INSTALLATION NOTES You must carefully follow our forum instructions, particularly with regard to the need for spacers and longer 40mm rear bolt for the lower rear shock connection (5mm longer than stock bolt with about the same amount of spacer to remove arc of travel of the rear so it is much more linear and clears the narrow race springs). NOTE with Race kit you end up with TWO COMPLETE SETS OF SPRINGS because Ohlins will re-valve for us yet they won't delete the standard springs from the kit.
