DESCRIPTION

Hardcore Miata Brake Pads for RACE use - for the spec miata and other Miata track users looking to try something other than the hawks. While the hawk blues tear up your rotors these miata brake pads give you the coefficient of friction and temp range without destroying your rotors. Very good race pad....my favorite choice for full time track day Miata brake pads!

Porterfield R4-RACE Miata Brake Pads Rear

I was running Hawk DT-60 pads originally and while I absolutely loved the initial bite, they would lock up too often for my liking. I put a lot of work into improving my braking with better pedal control but I would still find them difficult to modulate at the limit (hey, maybe it's just me).

Since I ran these R4s previously on my track car I decided to give them a shot. These are very different. Less initial bite and more pedal pressure required but after a few sessions I found that they are very easy to modulate and have excellent release characteristics for trail braking.

You CAN lock these up, but you have to want to do it. They seem to handle heat well and I haven't noticed any appreciable fade even in 90+ degree weather with repeated lapping.

Overall I'm extremely happy with this compound and these pads.

Great stopping power for my Maita that sees 90% track time. Even for the 10% around town the pad does fine. I use slotted rotors, stainless lines and DOT 4 fluid. The pads heat up and start gripping fairly quickly with very little fade by end of my session.
