DESCRIPTION

Designed as a bolt-on replacement for the factory midpipe to carry the 2.5 inch outlet of the factory header, and our RoadsterSport and Racing Beat headers, all the way to your choice of any of our 2.5 inch inlet RoadsterSport mufflers. Simple Bolt on for MANUAL TRANSMISSION ONLY. Also bolts up to our Racing Beat exhaust, MazdaSpeed exhaust, stock header and Racing Beat header. For those with automatic transmission, look to our Helmholtz Midpipe which is available with 4" converter to fit the automatic and which has better drone control which is needed with the auto trans that sticks you in low cruising rpms where that drone is found.

Now using our ultra flow FIVE inch converter. Old 4 inch converter flowed just enough for 2.0 motors normally aspirated, but those same 2.0 motors get no downside with going with the 5 inch converter, and the 5 inch converter can handle more heat so a better fit for high performance uses. The big 5 inch converter is also perfect for boosted cars and 2.5 conversions. Five inch converter fits manual trans only.

INCLUDES TWO O2 SENSOR CONNECTIONS which gives YOU the option to later add our RoadsterSport or Racing Beat headers and avoid engine codes (by using our O2 plug and play extension cords to relocate the factory O2 sensors to before and after the converter in this midpipe).

All stainless steel construction for years of driving pleasure. This MX5 Miata midpipe is slightly larger diameter than stock at 2.5 inches all the way through (see torque gains in our forum dyno thread). Uses high quality SPUN catalytic converter with metal core (despite presence of converter this unit is not CARB approved...which makes it legal in California only for off-road/race track use). Note that there are states in addition to California that now follow the California model and require CARB compliance, please check the rules of your state before ordering, in some states this setup is legal only for race cars and may never be used on public highway.

Uses monster 18 inch resonator because when you uncork this NC MX5 Miata motor it wants to get loud unless you use a resonator this large (by comparison stock resonator is about a foot long).

Stock midpipe is 20 pounds, our midpipe is 16.5 pounds for total savings of 3.5 pounds. Despite very large resonator, this midpipe will raise the final sound level just slightly because of the higher flow larger diameter tubing.

BRIAN'S APPLICATION NOTES: We started with the much larger "two biscuit" cat we use in the 99-05 midpipe system but I didn't like the sound quality that resulted. This small single biscuit spun unit is actually more expensive than the big metal clamshell cat we use in the 99-05 system but we did some experimenting with cats of different sizes and the short chambered spun cat helps reduce that 3000 rpm DRONE/ BOOM that this motor really wants to make on decel when uncorked. The short cat also saves another 1.5 pounds as compared with the bigger cat.

As for sound level...with the big cat the sound volume level was really unchanged as compared with the stock midpipe but we made the tradeoff decision to reduce decel drone but finish with slightly higher overall volume using the short chambered spun cat. and I think most will appreciate this choice.

SORRY, NOT CARB APPROVED FOR CALIFORNIA RESIDENTS. Sorry, we cannot ship these to residents of California.

STR LEGAL under Class Rules Update 2012. Pursuant to SCCA 14.10.E: our cat is smaller than stock but fits entirely in the space that the factory cat occupied pursuant to SCCA 14.10.E....and Magnaflow certifies these cores for use in any application up to 6.2L and 6000 pounds. Cat core has 2yr/25,000 mile manufacturing defect warranty (no core warranty for boosted or track cars), and the rest includes a lifetime warranty.

INSTALL NOTES and CAUTION! Is one or more of your ignition coils weak or failing? One reason people buy this midpipe is that their factory midpipe converter has failed after 50,000 or more miles. The owners too often assume the failure is simple old age. Failing items such as coils, fuel pressure regulators, spark plugs, valves, plug and ignition wires, and improper ECU calibrations, can cause the engine to misfire and dump raw fuel into the catalytic converter, which will cause over heating and a meltdown in the converter, which is not a manufacturing defect in the converter. If you simply replace the midpipe and don't fix the failing car then you can expect to quickly kill any replacement converter and that replacement will NOT be a warranty replacement. Therefore, please have your car professionally inspected and repaired BEFORE you install your new midpipe.

INSTALL TIP: READ our installation notes in our forum Installation section, the slip joint in the middle is your friend and the mistake some will make is to shove both sides of the midpipe fully together, making it too short. Lube up that slip joint and adjust length as needed.

Warranty note on the converter: warranty covers defective converter only. But you can burn up a cat with abnormally high exhaust gas temperatures from track use, supercharger, aftermarket ECU tune, ignition system failure causing a rich mixture, and more. Warranty does NOT cover damage to the cat from these external variables. A failed cat must be sent to the factory for inspection before it can be determined if it is covered under warranty or not.

NOTE we have ended the polishing of the setup because costs have jumped so much and we didn't want to further increase the retail price. Polishing added no function, so we did away with it to keep the price more affordable.

RoadsterSport HighFlow Stainless MX5 Miata Midpipe with HighFlow Converter

I recently purchased 60-1328 RoadsterSport HighFlow Stainless MX5 Miata Midpipe with HighFlow Converter and 60-13372 RoadsterSport "SUPER-Q" Stainless Steel PREMIUM ADJUSTABLE Sound MX5 Miata Exhaust

The combo of the two is nothing short of fabulous. Quality and fit and finish is absolutely wonderful. The sound is so good. I have been running them WITHOUT the included baffles in the SUPER-Q. It is a tick louder than stock, but the tone is so much deeper and aggressive. There is a slight burble when revving and on upshifts. NO DRONE top up or down. I was considering on adding a header too but almost afraid of messing with a good thing! :-). I am thinking the catted header could be a good option.

If ordering do not forget the bungs to close the 02 sensor holes in the mid pipe unless you are relocating the midpipe there.

I combined this with a Tune and there is more low end. Cruising around 2500rpm and putting the foot down no longer requires a downshift.

Bought this a few months ago, and finally turned over 1500 miles since installation, so I can give a good review now.

My exhaust system consists of the Max Power header, this midpipe, the street single muffler, and the extra baffle for the muffler. I also used the O2 sensor extension cables. I installed all of these simultaneously, so I only know what they sound like together.

The midpipe was easy to install. I followed the suggestion to leave everything loose and tighten up gradually together. I did install the O2 sensors on the pipe before I stuck it in the car.

Car fired right up, no codes, no problems. After a few months and 1500 miles the sound level of my system is perfect and it looks great too.

I paired this with the Super Q exhaust. I love the lower tone and low rpm and the nice high end sports car when I get on the throttle. Nice amount of burble and pops in deacceleration. This combination has made my car come alive.

Excellent product. Easy to install and makes a wonderful sound. The only 'quirk' with this is the location of the second cat cable entry, it is at such angle that the curve on the wiring is way low and since my car is lowered, dangerously close to possible objects on road to grab it. We fabricated a plate to prevent this. Also, the mid-pipe only comes with a seal from the rear and not one to connect to the header, something else we had to fab. Otherwise, wonderful!

Maxpower header and Mid-pipe gave my 2010 mx5 the sound of a sports car. Since install I have had multiple people comment on how badass my mx5 sounds!!!

My girlfriend and I were going to an event here in Louisville, KY and we were waiting to get into the fairgrounds and this guy in the vehicle next to us rolled his window down and asked about the exhaust and how it made him want another Miata!!!!

I'm really happy that I just purchased the midpipe instead of making my own. Really easy install and having the O2 sensor bungs made life easy. Performance is great, and price isn't to shabby!

I just have to say man.. The midpipe/muffler is freaking fantastic. You guys must be wizards over there. It's actually quieter in the cabin than my stock exhaust on the highway, deep growl on low rpms, discreet but sporty when you get on it; much praise to good win racing!! Will recommend to friends at next meet.

I bought a Roadster Sport Mid-Pipe from you a couple of weeks ago.

I installed it late last week and I wanted you to know how pleased I am with your product.

I have put over 300 miles on it and it has really caused my NC to Wake Up!!!

Good Job.

Tim

I have well over 1,000 miles on my RoadsterSport Mid-Pipe, and I can't believe the difference in sound it makes, along with the added Mid Range Torque! It is torque I can feel from just over 3,000 rpm all he way to the top.

This Mid-Pipe sound added to the RoadsterSport "Q" Muffler gives me an exhaust sound which people are actually asking me what Exhaust I have on my 2006 Miata. The volume is only maybe another 10% louder, but the exhaust has a rich Throaty, Growly sound that I just Love! Plus this accents the pops on decell.

If you have a RoadsterSport "Q" and want a little more sound and volume, plus an added benefit of a little extra Torque, you just HAVE to try this Mid-Pipe. A tremendous Bang for the Buck for sure! I only wish I would have installed one sooner!

BTW - the RS header and midpipe sound freakin' nasty with my Mazdaspeed rear muffler - not as loud or as ugly as the MX-5 Cup exhaust sounded, but pretty damn mean! I LOVE it! And, the Fidanza FW/Exedy clutch combo are darn near perfect.

I love the mid-pipe!! Not only is it beautiful, but it makes the sounds coming out of the 'race single' exhaust even better. The two go well together, and it mellows the decel drone a lot. I'm very happy with my purchase.

Got the GWR midpipe installed today, and thought I'd send feedback.

Fit: OUTSTANDING! Great design, replaced the stock midpipe perfectly.

I figured out the bung plugs. I put a bit of anti-seize on them just in case I replace the header later and need to relocate O2 sensors. Your directions on your forum really helped. I managed to do it solo with the car on jack stands without too much grief. I was able to re-use all stock bolts.

Finish: Very good. I'm not all that particular about exhaust under the car looking pretty, but the polished stainless did sure look nice.

Performance and sound: immediately noticed broader mid and more useable torque band. It actually seems to be learning a bit as I drive it - maybe the car is adapting to better breathing? Sound is VERY similar to stock until WFO, then just a bit louder. I still have the stock muffler. I was hoping for this kind of result, especially if I add header & muffler or even supercharger down the road.

Overall: VERY VERY happy. A well spent $400!!

Thanks!
