DESCRIPTION

Interesting alternative to our AWR engine mounts for MX5. Instead of urethane that can eventually break down, particularly if it gets too cold, these use EPDM. EPDM is an extremely durable synthetic rubber which lasts much longer than urethane and yet is softer durometer than the urethane in the softest of our AWR mounts which means less engine vibration transmitted to the chassis. Overall this mount is still MASSIVELY stiffer than stock mounts so expect idle vibrations as normal with these nearly solid mounts. Unlike our AWR mounts these are also sold INDIVIDUALLY so you can add just ONE....with stock mount on the other side and if you need more engine roll resistance then you can add a second.

These mounts dramatically reduce motor movement for much more precise operation of your shifts and much more direct application of power to the ground....and your transmission will live a much longer life too because it is not subject to near as much twist. Brian's Notes: We sell the EPDM mounts individually so folks can approach this in smaller bites, if you start with one we like that one mounted on driver's side (US left hand drive car).

RoadsterSport EPDM Engine Mount

I've installed just one (1) of these as recommended on my driver side mount. I also have the Whiteline differential mounts as well on the rear end so my review has to put that into account.

If you think stock is an NVH of 1 (scale of 1-10 high), the diff bushings bumped it up to a 4 and these bumped it up more to a 6. A full on race car I would call a 10. I won't be putting another mount on the passenger side. I have what I need with great shifter feel and it does feel like throttle response and the engine just feels tighter. You can tell the mounts are there from the moment you start the engine. Much of the feel/NVH is felt at or off idle and it kind of goes away as the revs build.

The installation was a breeze, it took longer to jack the car up and down. One tip is I used a series of 3/8 extensions to reach down from the top to get to the top bolt for added leverage/clearance.

I installed one EPDM mount on the drivers side and shifting from 3-2 ,2-3 gears on the twisties is so much smoother and quicker!. There some minor vibrations on dashboard at startup but but you won't notice it once you start driving. Very happy with this mount because I used to have grinding shifts when spirited driving on 35 south to woodside then Pescadero beach on the pacific coast hwy 1.Thank you Goodwin Racing! Will upgrade the passenger side next!

I am very pleased with these engine mounts. I picked up my NC back in April of 2019 and applied all of the various maintenance to try to eliminate most of the 1st -> 2nd shift issues that one typically experiences with the 6 speed transmission. The last issue to address was the twist from the worn engine mounts.

After having my local mechanic install these EPDM engine mounts, I can safely say that I feel much more 'connected' to the engine through the car. There is an intense difference in the amount of vibration communicated to the chassis versus the worn stock mounts, but I do believe that the EPDM has relaxed a bit to the benefit of both transmission shifting and the comfort level in the car. I would definitely recommend these for the trackable daily driver to eliminate engine travel.

I have a turbo, so engine lean over, drive train bounce, and missed gears are severe problems with the stock motor mounts. The polyurethane (duro 70) motor mounts eliminated these problems, but they were putting a lot of vibrations through my dashboard and my rear view mirror shook like I have a sub woofer. The vibrations were bad enough that I had to tighten several bolts around the firewall after a couple of weeks.

I swapped one of the mounts to the EPDM motor mount and the vibrations were reduced significantly, even though they have a nearly identical design to the polyurethane motor mounts. The dashboard hardly rattles and my rear view mirror isn't a blur from vibrations, but engine lean over is still controlled very well. I highly recommend these motor mounts for anyone with forced induction who do occasional track events and spirited driving. I only recommend the polyurethane motor mounts for hardcore tracking and those who want a drivetrain that feels like it is hard mounted to the frame.

This is honestly how the car should have been built... Fit was perfect and installation very simple. The engine basically stays put now, regardless of G forces. Dash vibrations are negligible, even with the low resonance of a long-tube header. Full disclosure: I only installed one so far, but am VERY satisfied and will do the other with my next round of upgrades.
