Gorgeous! Nothing comes close to our famous RoadsterSport MAX Power Header! Look at those smooth curves! Notice you don't see 6 welded sections for each primary like so many lesser headers that are made from cut pieces of standard radius pipe and straights, instead ultra SMOOTH all mandrel bent tube is used here to keep flow as clean as possible. Sexy all T304 polished stainless steel is formed into equal length primaries for max power...with a lifetime warranty!

We put incredible effort into making the exit at the collector as smooth and perfect as we can get it because this collection point is the KEY to good header flow and we had to make sure this was done as perfect as possible. Note we use the factory collector our fit is as factory-like as possible.

Our collector outlet is 2.5 inches. Curiously, the factory outlet is ALSO 2.5 inches and then the factory exhaust chokes down after that point. For best performance customers should match our header with our midpipe and exhaust so they are running 2.5 inches of flow all the way...but our header will bolt in place of the factory header and connect perfectly to the factory midpipe. Note that we have no O2 sensor connection in our part to keep flow as clean as we can get it but also because we could see no purpose in locating them in the header since doing so will throw a code because pulling the factory header includes removal of the first catalytic converter.

Several options on what to do with the O2 sensors with our header. Read below for options A, B and C. Optional oxygen sensor wire extension cables are available as an add-on option with this header. Adding ONE wire extension gets you one long wire extension to move the secondary oxygen sensor to the midpipe as described in option B below. Adding TWO wire extensions gets you one long and one short wire extension for moving both primary and secondary oxygen sensors down to the midpipe as described in option A below.

A) Buy our midpipe and our two wiring extensions available here for simple plug and play install. Our midpipes are designed to take both O2 sensors, and includes two O2 sensor connections for that - one before the midpipe's converter and one after the midpipe's converter to help avoid a code. Buy BOTH of our extensions for that option.

B) Second choice and most common choice is first sensor in the header and second sensor in our midpipe after the converter, which will also avoid a code. For install in the midpipe of both sensors you need both O2 extension cords, but if you put the first sensor in the header you only need an extension for the second sensor. The first sensor will reach header connection but you may have to follow the wires back to the harness and use a razor blade to clear some sheath which has them gathered shorter than they actually are.

C) Third choice is to put BOTH sensors in the header, which will cause a code unless your tuner turns off the code caused by having the second sensor in the header. You don't need any wiring extensions for that option (sensors will reach header connection but you may have to follow their wires back to the harness and use a razor blade to clear some sheath which has them gathered shorter than they actually are).

CARB NOTICE: Installing this header in the 2006 through 2015 MX5 Miata means removing the first catalytic converter which means this header will NEVER be a California street legal header, never be CARB approved (and therefore legal in California for off road use only). Sorry, we will not ship these to residents of California.

BRIAN'S APPLICATION NOTES: This is THE header for peak power on the NC with 2.0 liter motor. Our normally aspirated customers making the most power, and our supercharger customers making the most power, are all using this header. In the forums folks are proud to show off lesser headers that have 5 to 8 welded sections for each primary because the maker did it the cheap way with welding up standard straights and radius bits but while they are admiring the welds they overlook that each of those weld points means that inside the pipe you have a rough circle of material instead of smooth pipe! In contrast, you don't see welds on everry primary here because we do it right, smooth mandrel custom bend complete one piece primary sections give you the smoothest possible flow.

The first converter is also a pretty good resonator so understand that installation of any header will raise the exhaust sound level a good 20%. Therefore, we strongly recommend the RoadsterSport Q muffler with any header change because it was designed to handle the sound level of the header, and our RoadsterSport Helmholtz midpipe tunes the final sound result for drone free fun.

YES, fits Manual and Auto trans, both LHD and RHD. Those with AUTOMATIC transmission should read our instructions on install first.

INSTRUCTIONS: Read full installation hints and notes in our forum Installation Instruction Section! --- CLICK HERE TO READ MORE. YES, fits both manual and automatic.

Customer Reviews

RoadsterSport MAX Power NC Stainless Steel Header

Bought this a few months ago, and finally turned over 1500 miles since installation, so I can give a good review now.

My exhaust system consists of this header, the catted midpipe with a resonator, the street single muffler, and the extra baffle for the muffler. I also used the O2 sensor extension cables. I installed all of these simultaneously, so I only know what they sound like together.

Installation was pretty straight forward. Be sure to go read the instructions in the forum in their entirety, I should have done that, it would have shaved half an hour or more of time off the install. I reused my gaskets with no problem. One of the bolts joining the original header to the midpipe was seized so I had to cut it and install a new one.

Access can be a challenge. I recommend having an extensive collection of ratchets, sockets, and extensions. I found a pass through ratchet set to be necessary for four of the nuts. Harbor Freight makes one that worked great and was only $20. I had to rent an O2 socket from Auto Zone as well.

I think this is the single best engine improvement you can do to your NC. It revs quicker, sounds better, and makes more power. I will be doing a tune soon for maximum gain, but I am already very pleased, and I think you'll be pleased as well.

Beautiful piece of hardware and what an improvement! I've spent years building cars and I've never seen a part as nicely designed and manufactured. Completely changed the character of the car. Sound is amazing and the performance increase is obvious. I get all sorts of awesome sounds out of her now (pops and burbles and all that).
Install was straight forward using the instructions in the forum. I do suggest replacing gaskets at both ends at the same time.

I was concerned these pipes were going to be too loud, but they are just right while running with the SuperQ muffler and HighFlow Midpipe. I find myself driving with the radio off more often than not and I am really just enjoying the car itself.

The car has gone from hairdresser straight to barber status.

I have relocated the O2 sensors to the Midpipe and had the car ECUTEK tunes & there are no CELs.

Excellent product. Easy to install and makes a wonderful sound. It curiously also reduces the underhood temp quite a bit over the stock header and fat cat.

I installed the Roadster Sport Max Power header along with the Roadster Sport Midpipe and Super Q 2 Muffler. The entire system has been flawlessly crafted, it is almost a work of art. The sound is about 20ish% louder and it has a nice throaty quality to it. I really enjoy the burble on decel and the slight backfire when raking through the gears. The power gain is noticable, it comes on strong from 4k or so on up.

The install of this system went well and everything fit together nicely. Be careful when removing the old header as the forward O2 may hang up on the alternator, which mine did. I ended up ripping the plug off the O2 sensor and they are very expensive to replace. As a fix I cut the end off my new extension wire and used water tight butt connectors to connect it directly to my old O2 sensor.

I'm looking forward to ordering the ECU tune in the not to distant future to complete the package.

I recently installed the header in my 2012 MX5 soft top which was very easy by following the recommendations provided on this forum as well as The change in torque is substantial: 2nd and 3rd gear really came to life! I added the mid-pipe also and was fearful that the sound of these two additions would be over the top with my RS II muffler. I should not have worried, I love the sound! Yes, its a little louder but in a good way. No need for the "Q" for me. The header and mid-pipe are of excellent quality as I have come to expect with GW parts. Thanks to Brian and his team for making these products available!

The header fit and finish was per perfect just like expected. Install went just like Brian explain in his instructions only thing I added was extra heat shield on the back of the alternator.

Outstanding quality both the header and the mid pipe and combined with the Q muffler it sounds awesome yet mellows out at freeway speeds.

Purchased the RS Max Power header and midpipe. THESE ARE TRUELY A WORK OF ART! CRAFTMANSHIP IS TOP NOTCH!! SITE PICS DO NOT DUE JUSTICE TO THESE ITEMS! I recommend Brian's site to ANYBODY with a Miata/MX 5. Brian and Co have taken a great automotive platform and elevated it to it's FULL POTENTIAL!

BTW - the RS header and midpipe sound freakin' nasty with my Mazdaspeed rear muffler - not as loud or as ugly as the MX-5 Cup exhaust sounded, but pretty damn mean! I LOVE it! And, the Fidanza FW/Exedy clutch combo are darn near perfect.
