Motorsport has engineered a well thought out solution that creates a roomy storage compartment and removes those practically useless center cup holders.This Miata Console insert is the perfect accessory to keep loose valuables from tossing about the cabin, plus it also features an integrated 12-Volt outlet for powering or charging your electronic devices. Comes complete with a dedicated wiring harness, an elongated replacement lid, and detailed instructions.
We have one report that this does not fit the 2012 Special Edition.

Redesigned NC Miata Center Console BLACK Lid
This replacement was a huge improvement for my interior. The glove box and center compartment between the seatbacks are ever so slightly inconvenient to use for frequently needed small items. With this replacement I now have a place for my ipod, cell phone, and other stuff that previously wound up on the passenger seat. But rather than installing the included 12v socket, I routed 3 cables from my head unit into the console for access to 1/8" and USB adapters. The only issue I had was with the strong earth magnet coming unseated. A dab of epoxy is all that was needed to hold it in place more permanently.
