DESCRIPTION

Get the heights RIGHT for your NC2 Generation Miata. Too many spring makers did not adjust their springs after NC2 Miata arrived starting in 2009, the springs from those other guys end up with back end low and front end relatively high. That dreaded 'Speedboat' effect is avoided by these springs made specially for the 2009-2015 Miata, after a few thousand miles on our Project PRHT 2012 they settled to 13.5 front and about 13.8 rear (your results my vary depending on which shock you use and the age of the shocks, as shock pressure declines over time the car will settle lower).

The engineering staff at Progress has decades of experience in the design and tuning of performance suspension systems, including CART/Indy Cars, IMSA, SCCA, NASA, and SCORE competitors. These MX5 springs reflect their ability to develop a successful blend of appearance, handling capability, and ride quality.

These MX5 springs feature increased spring rates for upgraded handling capabilities with reasonable rates to maintain superior ride quality. These MX5 springs are designed to work with OEM shocks but will benefit from using high performance shocks such as our adjustable choices from Koni and Tokico. Progress specifies only certified high-tensile SAE spring wire materials. Their MX5 springs are cold-wound on modern CNC coiling machines, then stress relieved, pre-set, and shot-peened for maximum durability.
-Front starting rate: 126 lbs/in --- Rear starting rate: 116 lbs/in
-All spring kits are powdercoated metallic gray.
-Drop amount varies by 0.25" depending on shocks used.

BRIAN'S APPLICATION NOTES: These MX5 Springs were chosen by Mazda for their limited edition 2007 MSR package that now dominates the SCCA STOCK CLASS! These are a great choice for those who want to replace the soggy factory springs, improve handling, without dropping the car a lot. Notice starting rates just a little stiffer than stock but once you lean on them in the turns you will find the car is MUCH flatter and faster because the tires stay flatter to the ground instead of rolling onto the sidewalls as happens with the soggy factory springs. For those who want MORE DROP than the half inch drop the springs provide, combine these springs with our KONI SPORT to reproduce that factory MSR package handling and stance for total lowering of about an inch. Shown below on PRHT in combination with factory Bilstein Sport Suspension shocks. We suggest adding our FCM Sport or Comfort bumpstops depending on your driving intentions.

INSTALL NOTES: It is important to not lock down the bolts to the suspension after install while the car is suspended in the air with the suspension fully extended. Bounce it on the ground, then give it a drive around the block with the bolts just snug so you get it to settle before you torque everything ON THE GROUND. Most shops will NOT know to do this...SMART CUSTOMERS PRINT ALL THIS PAGE FOR THE INSTALLER! See details in our forum installation section, thread is titled: "Spring Installation, Mazda Workshop Manual Notes" and factory TSB notes below. Once you do it right, drive it 500 miles and then do it again (which usually results in another quarter inch or more of lowering)....and then do the alignment. ROCKY'S TIPS: Our head mechanic Rocky has his own method that seems to work even better than the factory TSB. Once he finishes install at each corner he jacks up just that corner with BOTH UPPER AND LOWER LINKs loose, so the full weight of the car is compressing just that corner, then he torques the bolts...and he finds car will still settle with 500 miles but usually only another 1/8th inch.

ALIGNMENT:

Alignment depends much on what you do with the car. Assuming no autocross or track use, for pure street driving my suggestion is:

Front Camber -1.8
Toe IN 1/32nd per side (some shops call this 1/16th 'total' toe in).
Caster 6.5

Rear Camber -1.2
Toe IN 1/32nd per side
Racers will take much more camber (and usually full coilovers instead of just these very mild street springs). Autocross customers will toe OUT the front, track users usually toe ZERO front and rear.

Install below on Customer Paul Young's MX5 Club, heights immediately after install using the Rocky method explained above, 13.5 front, 14.0 rear.

And soft top version of Club, same Progress springs, same results of 13.5 front, 14.0 rear.

These are an evolution of same springs that Mazda sold in the MSR package 2007 MX5 that has DOMINATED the Stock/Street SCCA Autocross class for years. Take a ride in a fast MSR and notice how fast and stable an MX5 can be with these springs as part of the package that includes our FCM stops and KONI Sport shocks and Progress Sway.

Progress Technology MX5 Springs

Very, very good. They are well dialed for the chassis. Easy to install, and marked for identification front and back. You know it's a good product when it's not brightly painted. This means the manufacturer knows the product is good enough to stand on it's own. I paired these with the Koni STRT shocks, And roadster sport sways. Thai has transformed the car into being more predictable and consistent, even over bumpier pavement. 10/10.

I purchased a 2011 Miata on 9/3/15 with 30K mi as a daily driver and do not anticipate auto x or track time. It had factory sport suspension with Bilstein shocks. Rocky installed all front and rear, Progress Springs, Koni Sport shocks, and Progress sway bars with RB end links (all at the same time). Also new tires Hankook Ventus V12 Evo2. So I can only review all the items together.
What a difference. The car now feels more stiff, settled, and stuck to the road. A joy to drive on freeway and twisty roads. It is lower now about 1'and ¼'front and ¾' rear. Sets at 13 ¼'front and 13 ¾'rear (gas full). Center of wheel to bottom of fender roll. I would buy all of these items again. Nice beefy sway bars and brackets. Thanks Brian for the info on the 2012 PRHT development car.

Had Rocky install the Progress sways and springs and Bilstein B6 shocks. Lowered the car 3/4". B8 shocks should be used if lowering much more though. On fairly smooth roads it rides soft and smooth like a 4,000lb. car might. On slightly bumpy roads it is a little rough riding . The car goes around turns flat no matter what speed. I like the stiff ride, after all, its a sports car. Had Koni shocks on an autocross/ hpde car and didn't like them. The Bilsteins aren't adjustable but they get the job done and are very reliable.

Advice from GWR was on point; I have a 2010 PRHT. Paired the springs with yellow Konis and the car settled 13.5 all around, which I agree is the right height! Car handles like a dream. Next is to upgrade the sway bars, which I am gonna take GWRs advice and go with the Roadsters. I do not track the car so for city driving, I think this set up would do great.

Bottomline - good pricing, excellent advice and a great product line. Thanks GWR - you earned a dedicated customer!

I recently upgraded my stock suspension on my 2012 MX5 PRHT GT. My application was simply as 'daily driver' and 'spirited' driving. The folks at Good-Win Racing recommended their progress technology springs as part of their springs, struts, endlinks and front and rear sway bar suspension upgrade. The result is a vehicle with less body roll and very noticeable handling over stock. I couldn't be more happier with the results because the ride comfort has not been compromised and handling is amazing. This is the way the MX5 should have shipped from the manufacturer. Wonderful upgrade and highly recommended for 'daily drivers.' Thank you Good-Win Racing!

These springs are perfect for daily driving, I've paired them with the Tokico adjustable shocks. I have had no clearance issues and the stance is low and aggressive.

Give them approx 1 month to fully settle, the difference will not be fully noticeable until then.

Installation for the front is a 6 out of 10, I recommend getting a helper for the front springs.Front springs took approx 5 hrs. Rear springs installation is a 4 out of 10 and can be done on your own if you use a jack to decompress the springs (this method can be dangerous if done incorrectly, do your research) it should take less then 3 hrs.

This a nice upgrade to replace the factory suspension. The ride is not harsh like coilovers create, it's realtively the same as stock until you push into the springs under spirited cornering. I combined the Progressive sway bars and Bilstein shocks to complete the package. These do lower a car about 1/2" to 3/4", this gives the car a slightly lower noticable stance from the factory height but still plenty of clearance that it does not to become an issue. Though they work nicely with the factory shocks, my suggestion would be to upgrade these at the same time and finish the suspension with a slightly aggressive alignment to tune the car into a the corner carving Miata that it should be.

The sentence in my earlier review should have read:
It is lower now about 1.25 inches front and .75 inches rear. Sits at 13.25 inches front and 13.75 inches rear (gas full).
It did not like fractions or inches symbols.

Worth. Every. Penny. The car feels tighter, the handling is crisp, the turn-in is quick, and the weight it balanced. Of all the things I've modified on my car, this has been, by far, the best bang-for-buck. These shocks are even helping me get more out of my tires. And the best part is that even though I'm getting more communication and feedback from the road, the ride is not rough and it still soaks up the bumps of the road in stride. These springs are the perfect addition to every Miata out there. I highly suggest getting the Progress Technologies Sway Bars.

I recently took my completely stock 2013 MX-5 Club Sport PRHT with about 8k miles and installed the Progress sway bars and springs and RacingBeat end links. I couldn't be more pleased. On the street the ride is much improved over the stock suspension and is as quiet as the stock set up. Given the smooth and compliant street ride, I was not expecting the performance I experienced at the track this weekend. As a Spec Miata ('93 NA) racer, I was expecting a pretty sloppy ride, especially on the stock tires. Well, I left the track very impressed. The car was stable, predictable and easy to get to take a set in the corners. It made me wonder why the car didn't come from the factory this way. Great products. On to the next mod.

Have used these springs in combination with Tokico HTS shocks for the past two summers and am totally pleased with the results. They provided a significant improvement in the feel of what the car is doing on the road without causing a harsh ride. We do a lot of driving with our local Miata club as well as some extended long-haul kinds of highway trips. These springs have been the right choice for both. They definitely give a great performance handling improvement and sportier feel to the ride, but on long trips they don't make you feel beaten up at all by the time you arrive. They are a great choice to pair with adjustable shocks because the stiffness they provide doesn't overwhelm the ride change you get by adjusting the shocks. You can still get a good range of ride selection according to the needs of the day. I added the Progress sway bars as well and the total handling performance and fun factor improvement is worth every penny. One word of advice though is to follow Brian's install notes to the letter and make sure the control arm bushings are torqued with the car on the ground at final ride height. Was surprised at how easy this was to do even though the car was lower.

These springs give a firm and sporty ride without being harsh. I feel the small bumps more, but the large bumps still aren't jolting. The body settled about 9/16", and evened the gap between the tires and yhe fenders. Looks great. Thank you Brian for the recommendation.
