DESCRIPTION

Built from heavy wall 1.75" diameter tubing bolted to the 6 factory hoop anchor points these bars are a serious upgrades from the stock NC equipment. The factory cross brace is reused to save money, no complications with remounting OEM accessories. Plastic interior panels are easily reinstalled and no alterations to the stock seat belts are required. Removable forward bracing may be added.

Allows full seat travel and tilt

The M3 Sport shares the same main hoop as the M3 Hard Bar and the attachments to the 6 factory hoop mounting points. Additional support is provided by 2 rearward braces w/ large 3/16" mounting and back-up reinforcement plates anchored with grade 8 bolts and self locking nuts. Because of the rearward braces the M3 Sport is not compatible with the retractable hard top.

Full interior height - 3-1/4" Taller than the factory metal hoops.

Complete use of soft top, request "CODE T" if you want it to also fit with removable hard top BUT DOES NOT FIT WITH THE PRHT (Power Retractable Hard Top).

Constructed of highest quality tubing 1.75" diam x .120" wall 3/16" mounting and backup plates Complete hardware kit w/ grade 8 bolts and self locking nuts.

SHIPPING COST NOTICE: Flat rate of $175 shipping within USA lower 48 states direct from factory applies to this harddog bar.

BRIAN'S APPLICATION NOTES: A budget choice comes with some budget compromises. The use of the factory cross member means additional time with install and a much less torsional rigid result as compared with the Blackbird choice. The SPORT adds supports to the rear in the lower portion of the bar but note that SCCA rules require rear supports be in the upper third of the bar...which means the lower supports on these bars may not get you into all track events requiring rear supports. For obvious reasons this will not install in a PRHT.

Harness bar is $175 EXTRA OPTION!

Hard Dog M3 SPORT w/ Double Diagonal

Overall, I would not recommend this product for a couple reasons. First, the instructions are unclear and sometimes a bit misleading. For example, instructions say "Bend the edges of the metal bulkhead as needed to clear the rearward braces"; however, bending the metal bulkhead is impossible and requires cutting (unless you conveniently own the jaws of life). Although this issue can be easily resolved for experienced mechanics, the instructions would confuse people who are less mechanically inclined (this is just one of many small examples of how the instructions could be better) Secondly, the roll bar itself did not line up perfectly and required modifications to line up with the factory bolt holes. I understand this roll bar option is a budget option, but it should fit perfectly, nonetheless.

This bar was super easy to install. The hardest part was removing all the plastic and such.
I imagine putting all the plastic back would be a pain. I left mine out since it's a track day car.
There are detailed instructions on harddogs website if you need them.
The only issue I have...is the harness bar. Where the diagonals come down and meet the horizontal cross bar there isn't really a place to put the harness. Meaning I want them to be directly behind the seat, but they are kinda angled. Hard to explain and I'm sure there is a work around. As I haven't gotten my racing seat yet I haven't put to much thought Into it.
All in all i love the bar, hopefully I won't need to test out it's ability to hold the vehicles weight in a rollover. If so, and it goes well, I'll update my post..

Overall the roll bar is definitely worth it. It's a step up from factory protection. The bar looks good and feels very sturdy. It arrived well packaged in just 2-3 days (much faster then expected).
I'm not a mechanic, but usually can figure things out. The installation of this bar was much more tedious then expected. Instructions were very poor. First several steps how to take plastic off were decent. But when I got to actual bar placement, fitment, plastic cutting it had very little help.

Here are a few problems I ran into: holes for the factory screws were about 1/4 inch off. Enlarging those took some work... I ordered my bar without harness bar - that was a mistake, because turns out I had to cut out a cross bar from factory setup to place it in the new bar. I would strongly suggest spending extra $100 and getting harness bar option. You will save yourself quite a bit of work. Lastly, cutting plastic was a challenge because there were no templates or pictures what to cut, and trying to measure what to cut under funky angles in the air didn't work as well - meaning some extra epoxy work on my end.
Anyway, overall I recommend this product but if you are doing it yourself expect to spend some time on it and definitely get harness bar option. Good luck!
