Understand that even those with appearance package cars do not actually NEED appearance package version of the mufflers, Mazda made only one version for all versions of the car and even our standard version of this muffler has tips that are bigger and bolder and further out than stock muffler. This version is only for the cars with Appearance package (see PICTURES further down this page page) and includes tips that are 1.5 inches longer than our standard version to better fill out the MX5 factory Appearance Package lower rear valance. Look at those pictures carefully, all too many people think they have 'all the options' on their Grand Touring MX5 but in reality they usually do NOT have the appearance package. On the earlier NC generation if you don't see that extra body seam across the lower rear bumper shown on the white and green MX5 below, you do NOT have the appearance package. As shown on the green car below with factory appearance package, the factory exhaust is over 2.5 inches submerged when appearance package is on the car. On the latest NC2 generation Miatas there is yet another rear lower valance design (see RED car at very bottom of page), and on that version you can stay with regular version of our Q if you want the tips to stay about where they are stock, or you can use this Appearance Package version as shown in the pictures at very bottom of page.
Promised for years and we finally got it done, a revised version of the famous RoadsterSport Q that is even more successful at controlling sound for customers making modifications such as highflow headers and superchargers. It was mostly customers with superchargers requesting an upgraded version of the Q, but we also got some requests for this special version of the Q from some customers running our RoadsterSport Max Power header and some running our PPE Long Tube header. Sounds the same under acceleration as Standard RoadsterSportQ...but even more successful at controlling boom/drone on decel. Dimensions are the same as regular Q, and just six ounces heavier than standard Q.
All the other features are the same as the standard Q, see information below copied from product description for the standard Q.
This attenuation design is a premium "NO-DRONE" choice, great for those with manual transmission and especially for those with the AUTOMATIC transmission (which tends to keep the RPMS in the lower ranges). By using smooth mandrel bent 2.5 inch tubing to redirect the flow for a side entrance to the muffler we engineered a sound wave attenuation first chamber to knock down volume level dramatically while maintaining a flow-through design. This attenuation chamber design muffler is the most mild and mellow on an otherwise stock MX5 Miata...about 10 to 15% louder than stock...with a deep sporty burble anytime you hit the go pedal but quiet when you are just cruising.
This premium MX5 muffler is also the BEST choice for those who plan such additional mods as a supercharger or header change (a header change unleashes a massive amount of additional sound). Our latest and best dyno results for an otherwise stock Miata....and for modified Miatas with the header change all the way to supercharged were obtained with the RoadsterSport Q muffler. ALL THE FLOW, without the noise!
Yes, simple BOLT ON that bolts to our midpipe, or the factory midpipe, or our Racing Beat midpipes. INCLUDES New Gasket and fresh Nuts and Bolts to make your install super easy. Weight is 24.5 pounds with baffles removed, 26.5 pounds with baffles installed (stock muffler is over 27 pounds).
Finished in tips which INCLUDE our exclusive baffle cone inserts which are REMOVEABLE and allow you to set the sound to sporty...or quiet. Also available are optional packed baffles (see separate product description) with which you can quiet it down even more for those using a header or supercharger, or race midpipe, etc. This system is 10% to 15% louder than the stock Miata muffler on an otherwise stock MX5 Miata exhaust system....and only 25% over stock sound level when used with our complete 2.5 inch RoadsterSport header and 2.5 inch RoadsterSport midpipe. Baffles are retained by small hex bolts inserted from well under each tip.
Proudly made in the USA with a LIFETIME WARRANTY. Fits all 2006 and newer Miatas with manual or automatic transmission, soft top or retractable hardtop.
Installation of this Miata exhaust is SUPER EASY...just two bolts! You don't even need to jack up the car, this installation can be done in your driveway! This Miata exhaust is guaranteed for as long as you own your Miata.
BRIAN'S APPLICATION NOTES: Everything we have learned about MX5 Miata exhausts, all our best tricks, have gone into this RoadsterSport Super Q. It is the perfect FIRST MODIFICATION and still the best choice for anyone planning future upgrades such as a header change or supercharger. It is quiet when you cruise down the freeway but delivers a sporty deep burble when you push your foot harder on the gas. This Miata Exhaust is the choice on my own soft top MX5 for driving around town...and my wife's PRHT MX5, and my strong recommendation for anybody wanting an exhaust with a super smooth burble, or any owner planning additional exhaust changes (header change or supercharger). This is also our top recommendation for owners of the automatic transmission and Power Retracting Hardtop.
Even more impressive than the peak horsepower gains is the broad torque gain from low to middle rpms, as shown in the dyno report from our forum 2012 project PRHT which you can read more about in our forum
MAY 2012 Update: New Rolled Tip Design! Had many requests for a new thicker rolled tip. The problem with the rolled tips that all our competitors use is that they are very heavy, which helps partially explain the ugly fact our competitors don't want to admit...which is that most our competition is HEAVIER than the stock muffler. As a famous racer once said, weight is the enemy, and making a muffler that is heavier than stock and calling it a 'performance muffler' is not our style here. It took a big investment in new equipment to come up with a rolled tip that didn't add weight to our best performance design...but it was worth it. These new dual 3.5" OD outlet tips complete the look of the exhaust and provide a more aggressive and sporting appearance. Yes, still works with, and includes, our unique removeable baffles that put YOU in control over final sound levels.
February 2015 Update: New SuperQ with Appearance Package Extended Rolled Tip Design! Pictures below of new ROLLED TIP APPEARANCE PACKAGE VERSION on TRUE RED MX5 with APPEARANCE PACKAGE (again, notice dividing line between upper red section of bumper and lower RED section of added appearance package). Nice flush fit for cars with appearance package!
BELOW is another version of the factory appearance package, 2013 Club with Roadstersport Q Appearance Package version in the upper picture and before shots showing factory muffler in the lower picture. On this version of rear bumper pick the regular Q muffler if you want the tips to stay nearer to stock location OR pick appearance package Q for result you see below.
Video showing how the baffles are easily removed.

The secret is LUBE your hangers well with dishsoap so you can get flanges aligned properly, and torque the supplied hardware to NO MORE THAN 25-30 ft/lbs (using more torque will actually result in LESS seal because you will pucker the flange out at the middle).

Owned this for about 5 months now.
Just as far as daily use.. this is the perfect exhaust for adults. We all live in the world on the street where the loudest cars are usually the slowest. It is nice to get more low-end torque but not force yourself to experience the fart-can booming noise of a rice rocket. I purchased this as well as the cold air intake as my only drivetrain upgrades and I can say that overall I essentially manage to keep all of the qualities of the drivetrain that I enjoyed from stock, and even introduced some gurgle and pop noise that the stock cat back must mask. And the tone overall I should say although quiet is improved substantially to have a nice deeper tone overall. It really only starts to boom a bit down around 1750 RPMs, and at that point you can just push the clutch in and idle (city driving).
Love this exhaust on our 2014 GT with six speed and paddle shift auto with full Flyin Miata Targa Newfoundland kit (Cosworth Supercharged), roll cage, sway bars, with PPE header and full FM catback system. With the baffles in, the car was very domesticated (wife loved the new sound), however the boys (my 17 YO and I) decided to pull the baffles and gained the throaty growl that we were both looking for. Prior we had the Flyin Miata muffler until my son went airborne over a speed bump and damaged some internal baffles. We love the Super-Q exhaust and love the flexibility of both the quietness of the baffled system (wife) and the growl of the supercharger with the baffles removed (the boys). Additionally, we noticed an uptick in MPG with first tank - we got 40 Miles more range - which was a surprise - since my son likes to make sure the tach goes to 7K every shift. Will continue to monitor this - maybe the muffler we removed had a blockage that wasn't conducive to efficiency.
Get this, you won't regret it. Also you can get glass packs, if you want to further tune the sound, we don't think it necessary, because it's perfect with the Supercharger/PPE system we have on our car. Next step is to take back to Summit Point and run the track with this new system to see how it performs.
No drone, No rattles, this is the perfect setup for our MX-5.
Was looking for a slightly more free flowing and aggressive exhaust than the factory unit. I also have the appearance package on my Miata, and wanted a proper look/fit for the tips. This exhaust covered all bases. The install was pretty straight forward. I replaced all of my 12 year old hangers with new poly units also from Good-Win during the muffler swap. The fit with the appearance package was perfect, and the 3.5" rolled tips look very nice and slightly more aggressive in appearance than the stock recessed 2.5" tips. The sound at first was quite loud, but as it has settled in over around 250 miles, it really mellowed and sounds quite nice. I cannot verify any increases in terms of performance tied to this change as the change seem more in the audible than in the power. I also made a few other changes during this swap, so the combination off all the change may add up to this perception. (New Moto-East Intake, Spark plug swap, battery upgrade to AGM, cleaned throttle body, added rear butterfly brace)
