DESCRIPTION

The Racing Beat MX-5 ND Race/Sport Exhaust System is a lightweight exhaust system that is intended for sport and race applications. Designed to meet the demands of autocross/circuit racers, this system is significantly lighter than the stock system and keeps in the lightweight spirit of the ND MX-5.

The Racing Beat Race Exhaust System for the ND MX-5 has been designed to offer a significant weight reduction over the stock muffler unit, compare the following:

Stock system = 20.5 lbs
Racing Beat Race Muffler = 13.75 lbs
This is a 33% reduction in weight over the stock system!

Manufactured in-house by Racing Beat, this lightweight muffler unit features 304-stainless a steel canister, tubing, outlet tip and hangers. In keeping with a "lightweight" theme, we developed a unique 12.5mm OD exhaust hanger end-fitting which can be mated to thinner, lighter 8mm OD (5/16") hanger rod. Considering that over 40" of 8mm rod material is required to complete both left/right hanger assemblies, the weight savings as compared with using all 12.5mm OD rod is considerable!

Sound Quality
While louder than the stock system, particularly under full throttle, this exhaust system can be used for those looking for a very aggressive exhaust tone for their daily-driven MX-5 ND. A modest driving technique will produce a moderate and tolerable exhaust tone, but jump on the throttle and this exhaust really comes to life. Full throttle does not produce a buzzy or harsh, but a more exotic sound of a tuned engine. During a long-distance trip to the race track during prototype testing for this system, Racing Beat's independent test driver commented that highway cruising was very tolerable, without any droning sounds or harmonics.
