JBR MX-5 Mini Antenna

This antenna is a great cosmetic replacement to the rubber OEM antenna if yours is deteriorated. Also more aesthetically pleasing compared to the OEM antenna. On the other hand it does have less range or the radio static is slightly increased compared to the OEM antenna.

the install is super easy and a much better look. my radio frequency works just as good, zero loss.

I picked up one of these as a replacement for the factory unit.

I like the size, but the tip is quite pointy and I need to unscrew it or put a buffer on the tip, when I use my car cover.

One potential issue that only became apparent after my purchase is that unlike the factory unit the mini is rigid. I wonder how much that will damage the antenna mount if it should collide with something.

Very happy w/ the appearance and quality of the antenna, but I would have to say that it is not "ideal" for radio reception if you live in the "boonies".
My radio reception was probably never much better than "good" or "decent" w/ the factory antenna, and w/ the stubby it varies between "mediocre" and "non-existent". Perhaps if I lived closer to any of the radio stations it would be fine.
It's not a big deal to me, as I mostly listen to MP3 files from a thumb drive and bought the antenna mostly for appearance.
But if you "need" the radio, you'd better be starting with "Excellent" reception.

Now I can pull through a car wash without having to remember to pull the antenna. It was never a big deal, just one more thing I needed to remember.

The new one looks better, of course. I've added an Apple-play head unit for stereo. So 90% of the time I'm using Bluetooth reception from my phone anyway. But when I do use FM, I haven't noticed any decrease in reception.

Nice product. Nice material & finish. I'm happy.

Thanks good win!

All Miata should come with stubby antennas from the factory. No loss of reception that I can tell and very quick install.
