PART NUMBER: 61-07073
This PROGRESS Rear Anti-sway bar is a larger 22mm diameter, and features two-hole adjustable rate bar ends. This is a easy-to-bolt-on component that will dramatically improve handling capability and minimize the traction-robbing body 'lean' during cornering. This complete kit includes all necessary hardware including polyurethane bushings, TIG-welded reinforced bushing brackets and synthetic bushing grease.
Progress anti-sway bars dramatically improve handling. How? They minimize the traction-robbing body "lean" that rolls part of the outside tires off the pavement. Our Sport-tuned Anti-roll bars replace skinny OEM bars and rubber bushings with larger diameter (stiffer) alloy steel bars and polyurethane bushings. More roll stiffness means less body "lean", and the tires stay flatter on the pavement (larger contact patches). The result is more grip and added driver control!
-Less body roll means more traction, faster cornering speeds, and increased driver confidence.
-Includes unique Progress mounting system and all necessary fasteners.
Progress Anti-sway bars are cold-formed in-house using our custom-built precision bending equipment. Both laser-cut and CNC bar ends are MIG welded in place using a precise fixture for an exact fit.
OEM 18mm sway bar rate = 334 lb/in.
Progress 22mm (soft) rate = 772 lb/in. (231%)
Progress 22mm (firm) rate = 1015 lb/in.(303%)
NOTE: We suggest starting on the 'soft' setting.
NOTE: These are the sway bar rates, NOT the wheel rates.
Size: 22mm
Adjustment Range: 2 hole
This system is designed for use with OEM end links.
Sway bar is powder coated metallic gray.
I bought this bar for my 2018 sedan. So glad I did. Installation was straightforward and fairly easy. Just time consuming. Took about 1-1/2 hrs because it sits above the axle and there's a few things in the way and rear spring needs to be removed. Loosened the subframe which gave about an extra 1" of clearance to wiggle it out. The instructions don't say anything about this but since we had the car on a hoist it was easy to do. Could be done in a driveway but I'd expect it to take a fair bit longer. The Progress bar is a little different shape then stock so it slid into place easier than it was to remove the stock one.
I set the bar on the softest of the two settings and am pleased with it. The remaining suspension is totally stock but in good factory condition (car is very low miles). This setting reduced the wallowing from the soft suspension substantially and eliminated that dreaded front wheel understeer. In fact there is now a very slight but predictable oversteer which I imagine will balance out nicely once itââ¬â¢s broken in.
If you're looking to improve the handling of your Mazda3, I highly recommend this. It's a great bang for your buck upgrade.
