Hard Dog Hideaway Vertical Receiver Hitch, Removable Receiver Included

I got this some years ago. Has been great. Was not that hard to attach (bumper removal required) and is easy to remove (I just removed it after many years, no longer need to use my Miata to hitch anything, have another cat for that).
I didn't use this much but when I did it worked perfectly. When not in use nothing is visible with the removable receiver.

Removal of the bumper cover and installation of the hitch isn't difficult, but it does take time. I also decided to sand and paint the mating surfaces of the bumper and impact absorber as mine were starting to rust. As the other review(s) point out, you do need to drill a few holes. The last part drilling upwards through the hitch mounting bracket was the hardest, if you are going to follow the instructions to drill into it while it's installed. I couldn't fit my power drill under the car to do that without jacking it up. My NC2 is lowered but even at stock height I don't think it would be possible.

I think the installation experience would be much nicer if the last hole was drilled from the factory. I understand you can't see where to drill when it's all put together, but it's nothing a marker and measuring tape can't solve.

All that said it is a good product, the build quality is great and this is probably the best and safest option for adding a trailer hitch to your Miata.

I will also point out while this part does not come directly from Good-Win, they were quick to assist me with an exchange when I found I had ordered the wrong part. Kudos to Good-Win customer support. :)

Love it. Really well made. Install was fairly easy, but the drilling was a pain, especially through the crash bar/last reinforcement point. Recommend using a new, high quality drill bit, or at least patience and a couple beers. I, regrettably, took the second option and ended up putting my car back together in the dark. Thanks, winter. Installation and torquing of additional bolts to crash bar was also difficult as you have to finagle around the crash bar and tighten the nuts by braille. Budget a little more time for this than you'd think.

Otherwise, very satisfied with the purchase, and now my mountain bike doesn't have to ride shotgun :)
