DESCRIPTION

NEW - Goodwin Racing brings you upgraded clutch and flywheel options built by the experts at XClutch.

XClutch is the US arm of Australian Clutch Services. These guys have been making some of the best clutches from stock to full blown motorsport applications for 30 years.

This Stage 1 clutch features a higher clamping load pressure plate and a sprung hub organic full face disc that offers a substantial increase in torque capacity over stock while still being well mannered and easy to use on the street. Ideal for performance street use.

Includes:
- "Stage 1" clutch: Higher clamp load, organic full-face disc, sprung hub. Rated for 240 ft-lbs of torque.
- Throwout bearing
- Pilot bearing
- Alignment tool

Ryan and Greg of GWR meeting with the XClutch guys at the SEMA convention:

BRIAN'S FEEDBACK: I like it. We changed our autocross 2.5 liter engine 2008 over to the 5 speed transmission because I prefer the ratios, particularly higher speeds available in 2nd gear. Added this clutch and noticed it is a hair more stiff than Exedy Stage 1 that we had in this car with the prior 6 speed transmission, and as another organic disc choice it is still easy to modulate. While certainly it takes a bit more leg than the marshmallow stock clutch, it takes less leg than stock clutch on Mustang or Corvette or Porsche.

In sum, more pedal pressure required than Exedy stage 1, but far easier than our ACT stage 1, a great 'happy medium' clutch for those with 2.5 liter upgrades. With 240 ft-lbs of torque it will handle race use of 2.5 liter, but not recommended for anyone with turbo or supercharger.

XClutch "Stage 1" Clutch

After having some issues with other clutch components I ended up just buying a whole kit so that I could resolve my problem, and ended up with the X clutch kit right here, and I have to say that I'm pretty surprised by it.

I've got the release location set up like my previous clutch (Exedy stock clutch replacement), which I'd assume was already a little more grabby than stock, but this one is furthermore a little bit more grabby. The release window is also slightly smaller, i'd say about 10 - 20% but it's nothing like an on/off switch or something that's unbearable. It's nothing too difficult to deal with - Really it just feels like it requires more skill most of the time to be able to get smooth shifts - but when shifting into second from first I do find myself struggling to get smooth shifts, and this is after multiple months / 2000 miles of driving with it. How much this says about me as a driver compared to the clutch though is up to you to decide, lol.

Overall, pretty happy with the purchase! Glad to no longer have extreme clutch shudder from hotspots, and nice to know that I have some leeway in my build if I ever wanted to upgrade to cams, or other performance upgrades.
