DESCRIPTION

MagnaFlow Exhaust Manifold With Integrated Catalytic Converter was designed for easy, bolt-on installation and do not require cutting or welding. Feature American made stainless steel construction and a high quality flow-efficient monolithic honeycomb catalyst that is designed to provide long life and clean emissions. Does not ship with the donut gasket shown in photo.

Fits all NC Generation Miatas, and CARB legal for 2006-2015. .

Brian's Application Notes: Finally a good stock replacement for those who need CARB compliance! Not designed as a performance upgrade, essentially a stock replacement and that means stock size primaries (though without the pinch bends of terrible OEM design). Thus, do not expect big gains, but do expect it both flows a lot better than stock and it will keep the O2 sensor lights off and pass smog when properly installed on NC Generation Miatas.

Brian's APPLICATION NOTES: Stock header from Mazda has terrible pinched primaries, NOT good for power. Notice how badly the primaries are pinched in stock Mazda MX5 header below:

Magnaflow cleaned up the design quite a bit with this CARB version, production picture below of CARB legal replacement, full diameter primaries that are NOT pinched in half. It is not in the interests of them keeping the CARB officials happy to do a dyno showing the gains, but we know it will flow better than stock and make some gains.

Note we assume fitment for USA/Canada LEFT HAND DRIVE cars only. As with every catted header (stock or RoadsterSport or Magnaflow), not recommended for track use or with turbo or supercharger.

Warranty note on the converter: warranty covers defective converter only. But you can burn up a cat with abnormally high exhaust gas temperatures from track use, supercharger, aftermarket ECU tune, ignition system failure causing a rich mixture, and more. Warranty does NOT cover damage to the cat from these external variables. A failed cat must be sent to the factory for inspection before it can be determined if it is covered under warranty or not.

MagnaFlow CARB LEGAL HEADER

A great catted header option for anyone with a right hand drive car wanting to keep emissions in check. I coupled this up to Helmholtz midpipe & my MX5 now has the exhaust note you'd expect from a sporty roadster, just the right amount of burble & volume. It took just a few drives to settle in the system & deepen the exhaust note. From a performance standpoint, the engine feels much more responsive & free revving, safe to say, due to the improved exhaust flow. Highly recommend this combination, just what I was after.

Installation notes: Brian's instructions in the GWR forum for header installation are on the money & extremely helpful. Make sure you have a comprehensive tool kit & can get good access under the car before attempting this install. You will need an O2 socket, breaker bars, 1/4" and 3/8" socket sets, thread antiseize spray & ALOT of patience to remove the factory headers. The new header installation is pretty straight forward & what you'd expect. Also if your car is right hand drive you'll need to remove the steering column coupler to get the factory headers out & new headers in. Make sure you align the coupler correctly when you reinstall it otherwise you'll get a warning light on dash & an uncentered steering wheel.

You know when you get home after being in public then take your mask off and think "now I can breathe".
Well that was my roadsters expession after I installed the Magnaflow header and midpipe combo.
I highly recommend this product, you won't be disappointed!

Here is my review of the Carb legal header 61-2340B and mid pipe 61-2199. Feel free use any, all, or none of it. Sorry it is so long, but I had a lot of good things to say!

I was totally ready to be underwhelmed by this mod from reading the descriptions on the Goodwin site. My OEM header catalytic converter had failed and I needed a replacement. The OEM is such a terrible design, I wasn't going to go OEM even though it was cheaper. Living in California I needed a CARB legal header. Since I was doing the header I decided to also upgrade the mid pipe too. Both of these units are manufactured by Magnaflow and sold through GWR.

I was pleasantly surprised at the improved torque at low RPMs and increased power all the way up to redline. My NC now pulls out of corners way better when the RPMs are low. Used to be, no power until 4000 RPMs. The car also runs up to the rev limiter way faster. It doesn't seem to strain as much over 5000 RPMs. On a circuit I always drive, I found myself going 10mph faster than my normal pace, with way less downshifting to stay in the power band.

I have a GWR Super Q muffler. My only complaint about it was, it always seemed a bit too quiet. I heard more intake sound then exhaust sound under hard acceleration. That changed significantly with the new header and mid pipe. Idle tone is now deep and rumbly. Under deceleration there is now a nice deep burbling sound. Zero drone at any speed. Under hard acceleration the car sounds like a real sports car and howls up to redline at 7800. Not annoying loud, but just right for a sports car. I have always said the most significant upgrade to power on my NC3 was an ECU tune. I think the header and mid pipe combo may match that increase.

Would you guys like a review of my recently purchased from GWR Carb legal header and mid pipe? I know you can't say either product enhances power, but I can. Combined with the Super Q the exhause tone is also amazing. Previously I felt the Super Q was too quiet and was going to order the street single. This setup rumbles at low RPMs,burbles under compression, and snarls like a beast when you get to redline. Regards, Dan
