Wilwood Superlite 6R 12.88" RACE FRONT Big Brake Kit

DESCRIPTION

This newest addition to the Wilwood BBK lineup for NCs builds on the already popular 12.88" BBK and turns things up a notch with several features specifically designed for the most demanding race track use.

kit is configured for dedicated road racing on 2006-2015 Mazda MX-5 Miatas, with an extra thick 1.10" rotor for maximum heat capacity under harsh race use.

Requires 17 or larger wheels designed with additional inside clearance. Does not clear factory wheels. The six piston Forged Narrow Superlite radial mount calipers used in this kit feature a forged aluminum body with a Type III Mil-Spec hard anodized, medium gray color finish. ONLY available in this finish. These calipers feature Thermlock pistons to reduce heat transfer from the pads to increase fade resistance, and to extend service life by decreasing temperatures in the caliper body, fluid, and seals.

Spec37 alloy, GT competition series 12.88 rotors are 1.10" thick and feature 48 curved internal vanes for maximum cooling.

Comes with Wilwood BP-30 brake pads: high temperature, high friction, endurance race compound. These are for RACE use. Extended low temperature use will cause premature rotor and pad wear.

All hardware, brackets and lines are included. Fluid is NOT included.

Brian's Thoughts. I have run all the Big Brake kits. The best dual purpose setup in my opinion for a high powered NC Miata that does track AND autocross AND street is our Wilwood 12.88 front with matching 12.88 rear with SIX piston front calipers. I think the Stoptech kit makes too much noise for street use, thus it would not be my choice for a dual purpose car, we have customers street driving it that don't agree with me on that point. If not going to upgrade rear brakes, and not running big power, then best balance with stock rear is our Budget NC brakes with four piston caliper. This Front 12.88 6 Piston setup was designed in cooperation with the owner of Wilwood when that same owner was racing an NC Miata with 300 hp, the first customer install of this kit with matching 12.88 rear was on our own 300+hp 07 shown below and it has served us well in track events on this beast for over a decade. When we have track days that allow passengers it is not the 320+hp of this car below that impresses the passenger most, it's that I can pass and late brake everyone and their head just about imprints the dashboard when I finally hit the brakes at the end of a long straight like at Laguna Seca to make the Andretti Hairpin.
