DESCRIPTION

Made exclusively for Goodwin Racing by the oil pan experts at Moroso! This expanded capacity all-aluminum oil pan features a machined heat sink on the bottom to help shed heat out of the oil, and internal trap doors to keep oil located around the sump even during hard driving.

We've tried to think of everything during development of this pan. Included is a 1/8"NPT port for a temperature sensor, as well as a 1/2"NPT port which can be used for a turbo oil drain (both ports come with plugs installed).
Drain plug takes a 5/16" size allen tool. The drain plug seals on an o-ring, located under the head of the plug, so when you remove the drain plug for oil changes, make sure you don't lose the o-ring! Because it seals on the o-ring, you don't have to go crazy tight on the plug. 10-12 ft-lbs should do it.

Install Note: The factory tray under the engine is removed for install of this pan and will be discarded. You will leave that tray off, which helps get airflow to the pan so the heat sink on the bottom of the pan can be effective. There is no danger to the pan with the tray removed as it still sits above the bottom of the subframe.

Capacity moves from stock 4.5 quarts up to 7 quarts! That gain of 2.5 quarts in capacity means much more temperature stability for track customers, particularly beneficial for any track customer, and any serious driving customer adding turbo or supercharger.

Hardware: Factory hardware has worked for us and many others for bolting the pan to the engine, but we have received some reports from customers whose engines have shorter bolts that aren't long enough to install this pan with its thicker flange. It's unclear whether that is an ND2 specific thing or some other factor/option that had the shorter bolts. *Most* cars come with long enough bolts, but those with just 11mm of thread length will need to source longer M6x1.0x20mm bolts to install this pan - available at most hardware stores.

Moroso Expanded Capacity Baffled Oil Pan for ND

I went to Carolina Motorsports Park yesterday and it was another warm day in SC! I will say I wasn't sure if the Goodwin Racing's Moroso Expanded Capacity Baffled Oil Pan for ND would make a difference or not on my climbing oil temps on hot track days. Well "It Does Work!" and I was very pleased with the results! I would have my oil get up to 273-275 on the track before. Also, yes, I have an oil cooler. Well instead of 275 I only got to 245 yesterday. The other important item was how much faster it cooled down! I was really surprised at how much faster my oil temps would drop on cool downs or even in the paddock. I guess the aluminum with cooling fins dissipates heat much faster than the stock metal oil pans. I am sure having the oil pan exposed to air instead of being closed up with the tray underneath it.

Went in easy enough. Much more surface area than stock and cooling fins. I grabbed this as a suggestion when oil getting hot while out on track. Go get longer bolts up front, you will need them. I showed my install process with pictures on the Miata Forum. https://forum.miata.net/vb/showthread.php?t=768810
