The install was easy and this converter sounds great with my Flowmaster catback. Just a warning: it will make you exhaust about 2x more loud. When it arrived, it was not the same design you see in the picture. Also, it arrived with the wrong flange gaskets. Goodwin sent the correct ones out at no charge and arrived the next day.
The OEM Cat on my '95 M Edition was shot. You could tell the engine would lag and there was a constant rattle between 2500-4000rpm coming from the Cat. I knew I needed to replace the Cat but didn't want OEM and being in California I needed a unit that was CARB legal. After a quick email volley with Sean at GoodWin. I ordered this unit and even with the premium price, I couldn't be happier. It's well worth the investment if you need to replace OEM or any aftermarket Cat for a vehicle in California. The fit/finish is top notch and comes with all the necessary hardware to complete the swap. I've even noticed a slightly throatier exhaust note with the OEM exhaust still on the car. Highly recommend!
I previously had a problem with my '95 Miata where, after having a slight idle surge for a couple of years that didn't really affect drivability, it suddenly started running really rough one night. Would not make power either. After it felt as though it was running out of breath, I concluded that it needed a new cat, and this is the one I ordered. It didn't end up being what fixed my problem (timing had jumped due to a timing cover gasket coming loose), but after the timing was fixed, the idle surge problem is gone and the car feels more powerful than ever, since I bought it 3 years ago. So, I definitely think it has helped the car, even if it wasn't what fixed the problem. I was a little confused about which direction it should be installed, but once the old cat was out, it was more obvious that the more curved end went towards the front. And the car no longer smells, so my wife is more willing to go for a ride in it.
I failed smog due to high NOx, bought this converter and passed with extremely low NOx numbers. Definitely worth the money. Easy to install I'm very glad I went with Goodwin racing for this.
This was a perfect fit for my 94 Miata.
I failed smog last month, and needed a replacement cat. It was a perfect, direct fit bolt on. I didn't have to adjust my existing stock exhaust at all.
It comes with both gaskets and bolts, which was a definite plus. I still had my factory cat, and the bolts were frozen, so I ended up having to cut them off..
My car went form being a gross polluter to easily passing smog...
Great product at a great price.
