Racing Beat Race Muffler for 1999-2005 Miata - Manual transmission only.Lightweight, only 13.5 lbs
Produced in Racing Beat's California manufacturing facility, the Miata Race Muffler features a lightweight 304-stainless steel muffler canister, inlet and outlet tubing, single-wall tip (with etched Racing Beat logo), attachment hangers, and connecting flange. The muffler canister utilized features a straight-through design for optimum exhaust gas flow and includes a combination of stainless steel and high-temperature ceramic wool packing material for sound absorption.
In keeping with the emphasis on the lightweight aspect, Racing Beat adopted a unique approach to the development of the extensive hanger assemblies that were required for this muffler; we used lighter 5/16 OD rod material for the lengthy hanger assemblies, and designed a unique OD forged end hanger, which was then mated to the outlet end of each hanger assembly. The result is a muffler that weighs only 13.50 lb.
Racing Beat Final Notes This is an aggressive lightweight Miata exhaust system developed exclusively for the weight conscious racer. This muffler is just enough to take out the overly harsh, raspy, and obnoxious elements that you would get with no muffler, but leaves lots of volume and aggressive notes. This is not a "touring exhaust" or "street exhaust" and will not appeal to more conservative drivers and/or passengers.

Racing Beat Race Muffler NB 99-05
I did a lot of forum research before making this purchase for a replacement of the stock muffler on my NB2 Miata and was still a little hesitant as there were a number of complaints that this muffler was "too quiet". Fist off, the sound transformation is nothing short of transformational. It has a great, deep sound, no raspiness whatsoever, but much sportier than the stock restrictive boat anchor it replaced. It sounds so much better and an unpredicted consequence is that I find it much easier to shift by ear- I wwas always short-shifting because over 4k rpms the sound was so tinny and nasty. Now conversely I can hear it lugging below 3k and open up to a nice muted growl above 4k. Also this thing is LIGHT. Well-made- welds look pretty. Easy bolt-on installation (LOTS of penetrating oil on the 17 year old bolts helped) and gasket was included. Last thing- this was drop-shipped from the factory, Good-Win and Racing Beat gave me a 3-5 week lead time- it showed up in 2. Winning all around. Just buy it!
