I had never heard of X- Clutch components. Upon opening boxes I couldn't help notice the attention to detail in packaging. Once I saw the kit, I was totally impressed with the quality and thought that went into it. The pilot bearing is pre lubed, the beautiful flywheel has dowel pins for pressure plate. Even the paint on pressure plate is flawless! I am thrilled with my purchase, thank you
I have about 1500 miles on the new clutch and couldn't be happier. First the only slight negative about this setup. At idle in neutral there is a bit of a rattle, clutch in it goes away. My type of driving, I rarely sit with the car in neutral.
Now for the good stuff. Ryan spent a lot of time listening to me describe my driving style and use of my car. 90% canyon carving 10% track days. The X clutch has a high enough torque rating to easily handle the SC, yet is easy to live with on street. The 12lb flywheel is fantastic when rev matching, yet launches are close to OEM, I don't even think about. Pedal pressure is about 30% heavier than stock. Stock always felt wimpy to me. This feels like a sports car should in my book. Clamping pressure and bite are superb. Honestly I am shocked at how great this car feels with the new X Clutch and the lightened flywheel. Once again GWR provided great advice and a fine product.
I bought this clutch kit after having originally had a stage 1 or factory Exedy clutch in my vehicle, and then buying a Stage 1 Exedy clutch combo meal for whenever I did my 2.5 swap. While doing that, I ran into issues with drivetrain shudder, as well as some other drivability issues (No shame to Exedy, I had some certain circumstances). Whenever I got around to putting a new clutch kit in, I decided to opt for the Xclutch kit this time as I Haven't really seen many reviews on it, and it sounded like a solid kit all around so I pulled the trigger and loaded everything up.
WOW. This clutch honestly feels really similar to the first clutch I used (Either a Stage 1 Exedy or OEM replacement Exedy), except that I think that it feels smoother than even that. Lots of engagement time, probably 15Off / 75On / 10Off for the total engagement range from top to bottom with how my clutch pedal is adjusted. Really like that the clutch disc itself is rated up to 240tq, so I don't have any concerns about how it will hold up with what I decide to do to the car in the future. The slightly lighter flywheel than the Exedy is also just a nice little touch ;)
I would definitely say give this clutch a shot if you're needing/wanting something with a little more friction power than the Exedy variant of the happy meal. I think everything in here works great together, and whenever I need another clutch kit this will be the one that I turn to.
