DESCRIPTION

This Koyo Radiator fits 99-05 Miata ONLY.

This is Koyo's ALL ALUMINUM Miata Racing Performance Radiator, updated for 2015 to new 36mm Hypercore. Produced in Japan, its all aluminum construction is held to tight quality control standards that are illustrated in the outstanding Heliarc soldering, pristine tube and fin alignment, and mirror-like surface finish.

This Miata radiator unit is completely plug and play with all OEM hardware and thicker aftermarket sway bars! Koyo smartly designed their Miata radiator to take the factory cap, factory fans and even the factory plug so that service at your local dealer is not a problem and replacement parts are as close as your local autoparts store or Mazda dealer. NOTE new radiator cap NOT included, but we do offer KOYO Performance caps separately on the site. New drain plug is included. This 36mm koyo Miata radiator fits easier with OEM hardware and thicker aftermarket sway bars than bigger 2 inch cores, usually without having to trim the fan housings. Also very popular with the spec Miata racers because it cures most overheating issues without adding quite as much water weight as the 55mm/2inch core models.

Intended for manual transmission Miata only. NOTE that owners of the 04-05 MazdaSpeed Miata will need to slot or bend brackets for the factory AC condenser and move that assembly forward a little to clear this much larger radiator.

BRIAN'S INSTALL NOTES: Sometimes we find the A/C was port installed and placement of the condenser is not always consistent, we just bend the condenser brackets as the easiest way to get the clearance. But you can also unbolt the Condenser and slide it down and then put it in front of the brackets. Be sure you make clearance so your new radiator is not damaged by the condenser! Note Koyo does include new drain plug, but does NOT include new radiator cap. The caps are available on the site (just click link bottom of the page).

Miata Radiator KOYO 36mm Hypercore Aluminum...VH060650

Spent my summer trying remedy track related overheating issues on a stock radiator in the Texas heat. Made a great deal of progress but could never get the stock radiator to manage heat for a 20 minute session. Dropped this bad boy in there and haven't had any problems. MSRC 1.3 in 97 degree ambient, without a re-route, I never saw anything higher than 212 coolant temp.

This was an easy replacement for my stock radiator and is much more efficent and higher quality.

Nicely finished piece. Easy installation with the usual A/C relocation. Cooling fans bolted right up.

Great radiator. The finish and quality is great. Install was a cinch - but I did have to remove the condenser mount brackets and pound them flatter, to give clearance. Hard to tell the difference in operating temperatures, but since my radiator was damaged, this was a great upgrade that fits without too much hassle.

I have not had much luck with Koyo radiators. My first radiator barely lasted 20000 miles over a 14 month period and developed a crack between the core and the upper tank. Replacement radiator didn't even last 3 heat cycles before the core began leaking. Because of the number of heat cycles and some residual stop leak that was in the engine, I have exceeded Koyo's warrantee. (See their website for full details). About the only good news is it does fit without any mods required. I just can't recommend this product.

My old radiator was running hot (203-210F on highway, 220F on track) and turning color, and I didn't want to wait for a failure....so swaped with this. Car cools great now! I also changed out the thermostat which was probably part of the problem - I did a hot water test with new/old and older one definately opened slowly/late. Be sure to check that as part of replacing/troubleshooting heat issues.

Minor fitment issue with my '99 - the bolts holding A/C condensor were in the way, and so I remounted them 1/3" back and then no issue.
