PART NUMBER: 61-1705
The widely coveted and rave-reviewed MiataRoadster shifter kits are now in stock at Goodwin Racing!
No more missed shifts, grinding gears, not being able to "find" the desired gear. This kit transforms the Miata transmission. You'll fall in love all over again!
The exclusive tall/angled style shifter puts the knob 4" higher than stock height and closer to the steering wheel so your hand can stay on the wheel more of the time during aggressive driving.
The area of the shaft exposed above the shift boot has a beautiful brushed Stainless Steel finish that will never rust or oxidize.
This is a complete kit to replace your entire stock shifter assembly -- nothing else is needed.
Kit contents:
* MiataRoadster 303 Stainless Steel +4" angled shaft
* MiataRoadster Aluminum offset ring with Stainless Steel dowel pins secured by set screws (to prevent pin movement due to heat cycling)
* MiataRoadster Delrin fulcrum support bushing and unique "top hat" shaped tip bushing
* MiataRoadster Aluminum foil-backed woven Silica heat shield to prolong lifespan of the upper dust boot
* MiataRoadster woven Silica lined Silicone shift boot support tube
* Genuine Mazda components: upper and lower dust boots, above-ball and side-ball crescent bushings, upper and lower wave springs, paper gasket, and two replacement insulation pads
* Nord-Lock washers, Grade 10.9 bolts, and washers
* ARP Ultra-Torque fastener assembly lubricant

I resisted for many years. I told myself I didn't need it, that it looked too goofy, that a rebuilt stock shifter was already perfect. In the end though, I bought this shifter and I fell in love with it. Yeah, it takes a little getting used to the knob position. For me it took about 50 miles of driving over the course of 2-3 days. And now, a few hundred miles later, I'm absolutely in love with it.
Yes, it looks a little goofy. No, you probably don't need it. And yes, the stock shifter really is still quite good. But this, this is oh so much better. There's nothing new I can say about it that hasn't already been said, just that I shouldn't have talked myself out of it for so long. It truly does make a great shifter excellent. Take the plunge and just buy it.
This is a follow up to my earlier review. I had the angled lever cut and welded to the stock height and now really enjoy the kit. I'm looking forward to my next track day and will rate this kit a five if the shifting remains as positive as it is on the street. Clearly the offset lever was not right for me but the rest of the kit is a winner.
I went for the sales pitch but this product (the long angled shaft) has not worked for me. Just back from a track day where I missed, badly, four 2nd to 3rd shifts. The shifts work okay if I slow down but that's the opposite of why I spent so much for a short shifter. Bill will sell me a stock height shaft for $100 + $6 shipping and refund me $50.00 upon return of tall shaft but he won't have any replacements for a couple of months. I've had other short shift kits on a Subaru and a Honda without this problem. I think I'll take it out, cut it up and have the muffler shop re-weld, straight and short.
Before spending this much money on a kit, see if you can find one to try out. It's clear the fitment is not for everyone.
This product moves the shift knob up and closer to the steering wheel and improves the right feel of shifting. I think it makes a very pleasant improvement in the already good shifting feel of my Miata.
