DESCRIPTION
Hard Dog hitches work great for bike racks, luggage carriers and small trailers. This HIDEAWAY design is built in two parts. It has a removeable receiver and when removed you can't see the hitch at all unless down on your knees looking up (as in this picture).
Features include: Standard 1 1/4" receiver Powdercoat finish Class 1 weight rating: 200 lbs tongue wieght / 2000 lbs gross trailer weight. (More than a Miata / MX-5 should haul). weight Includes all hardware and instructions.

I found the hitch to be well-made and a great value. I have a bike rack attached to it, now, so that I can transport my mountain bike to the local trailheads, and it works perfectly for this. It took me about 6 hours to install, but I was working on a gravel driveway and taking my time. If I can install this hitch, anyone can.
Love this hitch. Watched YouTube to figure out how to remove brake lights, bumper cover, & bumper. Then reassembled with hitch on. Entire job took 3-4 hours comfortably (not in a hurry and being careful). No special tools required. YouTube was fairly accurate in taking rear bumper cover, however I have a 2022 mx5 and there were a few more screws to remove that weren't shown in YouTube video. Would recommend this hitch.
A quite robust and heavy duty product. Installation was of medium-difficulty; about 3 hours.
Exceptional quality.
This is a great product. I used it to haul my Mountain bike and Road bike. I use a 1UP USA hitch mounted rack with the Hard Dog Hideaway hitch.
It is well constructed and bolts right into the MX-5 frame. Installation is straight forward and can be done DIY.
The removable receiver can be left or removed if you are not using the hitch. Make sure you buy the anti-rattle kit.
