Included adjustment knob dials ride from SOFT to FIRM by just turning in the direction of arrows on the knob. That allows you to dial it soft for daily ride and firm for autocross and canyon and track fun, or any point in between for your ideal compromise of ride and handling.
KONI has a long-standing reputation in racing circles as a manufacturer of high performance, top quality shocks and struts. KONI uses superior materials in the manufacture of their components to ensure significantly improved handling and excellent durability. Designed specifically for the 2016 Mazda MX-5 application, these externally adjustable shocks will improve the handling performance of your car!
INSTALL NOTE: Shock Rod is 12mm, stock bump-stop washer is 10mm, so you need to drill out the factory bump-stop washers slightly for install.
Picture shows that clip ring has multiple positions, allowing lowering even with stock springs:
Price is PER shock, if you need two, order two!
Damping adjustment tip: As with all Konis, the adjustment on the top of the shock to change from soft to firm is opposite from most other shock makers. With Konis, CLOCKWISE = Softer, and COUNTER-CLOCKWISE = Stiffer.
All Koni shocks ship set to the full-soft position. Shocks should not be driven/used when up "against the wall" of full-soft or full-hard. Therefore an important part during assembly is to turn the adjusters off of that full soft position, ensure smooth motion of the knob, and then set them to the position you desire. Note this is easier to do AFTER you have the shock and spring assembled as it can be difficult to hold the shock shaft in place and keep it from spinning with your hand before you have things assembled. If you want the shocks at full-soft, turn the knob all the way clockwise gently until you hit the wall, and then turn the knob counter-clockwise 1/8th turn or so that the shock is within its operating window. Similarly, if you want full stiff, turn the knob counter-clockwise until you find the wall at full stiff and then bring it back 1/8th turn or so. Never drive the car with the shock adjustment jammed against either end of the adjustment range.
BRIAN'S APPLICATION NOTES: KONI has long been a strong choice for street customers seeking an adjustable shock and track/autocross customers competing in 'street' classes. We run what we sell, we have these in our 2019 ND2 Miata for SCCA CS Class Autocross. Watch autocross below where we took first place in class and Top Pax out of 122 competitors for the event.

Thanks to Brian's recommendation. I have these KONI front/rear Shocks with GWR Bump Stops, GWR front Endlinks/SuperPro rear Endlinks, front GWR tower brace, and Progress Tech Springs. My first AutoCross, I dominated all N/A and Turbo Miatas (I am on ND2, no tune). I couldn't be happier with GWR's expertise in GWR.
The installation is same as installing springs with slight modification using a Dremel tool. I grinded off the Bumpstop top hat off about 2mm in order to have them fitted. The lowest perch was way too low for me, and so I reinstalled the whole thing again and set at the middle perch. The wheel gap was eliminated and height was good enough to clear most driveway going diagonally.
The ride is slightly rougher but nothing unbearable for daily driving. I wish the adjustment has clicks that you can actually feel, rather than analog.
Overall, I think it's a good buy. if you want to upgrade your suspension component one at a time.
