Hard Dog M2 Hard Core Roll Bar

DESCRIPTION

The M2 Hard Core Bar is designed for the serious SCCA Solo 1 competitor that wants to maintain a dual purpose car for street and racing use, but doesn't want to give up the glass rear window convertible top. The "Hard Core" model refers to the larger 1.75" tubing used, in comparison to the 1.5" tubing used on Hard Dog's Sport bars.

The M2 Bar features redesigned rear legs that allow room for the 1999+ Mazda glass rear window to fold down. The M2 will also fit 1990-1997 cars. If your 90-97 car was retrofitted with a glass rear window soft top, the M2 model is what you want so that window can fold down. Also compatible will all flexible plastic rear window tops.

Compatible with NB factory glass rear window convertibele top and *most* after market glass rear windows out to about 34 inches of width (In measuring the width include the glass covered in the vinyl).

Stock seats and belts are compatible for the competitor that wants to maintain a dual purpose car for street and track events.

HARD TOP OPTION:
Hard tops restrict the space inside the Miata a little bit more than the soft top does. Therefore, the the Hard Top version of this bar places the main hoop a bit further back and slightly lower than the non-Hard Top version so that it clears under the slope of the inside of the hardtop.
Yes, Hard Top version clears soft top too. The Standard (non hard top) M2 Hard Core is the tallest design possible with a functional soft top but not necessarily the best choice for tall drivers using stock seats because of the more forward placement of the main hoop. We recommend the Hard Core Hardtop version for most drivers over 5' 9" with unmodified stock seats.

HARNESS OPTIONS:
This roll bar is NOT available with a harness bar. The reason for that is that the whole point of the M2 model is to clear a fold-down glass rear window, and a harness bar between the rear legs would interfere with that goal. To mount harnesses with an M2 bar, you have two options:
A) This bar comes with a tab on each rear leg which has a mounting hole where you can bolt the harness should strap end to, or install an eye bolt for clip-in attachment of the shoulder straps.
B) Purchase separately the Hard Dog Bolt-In Harness Bar (available separately in the Hard Dog Roll Bar section on our site). That harness bar mounts to the Miata seat belt towers independently of the roll bar, and because it's positioned further forward than a harness bar would be if welded into the rear legs of the roll bar, this option will still clear a folding down glass rear window.
