DESCRIPTION
Fits 1994-2005 Miata 1.8L Including Mazdaspeed Version
EXEDY Racing Flywheels are made from solid one piece billet chromoly steel forgings. They are specifically designed to reduce weight and inertia for better engine response.
Most incorporate special design features to enhance air flow to improve the cooling of the clutch. The ring gear teeth are milled onto the flywheel unlike an aluminum flywheel where the ring gear is pressed onto the flywheel and have the possibility of separating from the flywheel.
Exedy advertises this flywheel as 12 lbs. We have weighed it here on a shipping scale at 11.25 lbs, but there will be some fluctuation from one scale to another. Expect a bit under 12 lbs. Great for street user seeking something lighter than stock but okay for use in traffic.
Brian's Application Notes: Can be installed in 1990 to 1993 if you match it with 1.8 size clutch kit.
Legacy note: Long ago Exedy made this flywheel with a different thread pitch than the factory clutch bolts, so you had to source new bolts to fasten the clutch to the Exedy flywheel. Exedy has since updated the flywheel so it now takes the factory bolts. But those with OLD version of this flywheel may run into the factory clutch bolts not fitting in it.

EXEDY Racing - Lightweight Flywheel
I had this installed at a local Mazda expert's shop. I was having the clutch replaced and at the show owners suggestion got this flywheel too. He said it pairs nicely with the Miata Stock Replacement Miata Clutch Kit By Exedy- Complete KMZ03 1994-2005 for a daily driver. He was absolutely right, still very easy to drive but seems to spool up at a faster pace. This was my parts list I had installed at Jesse Prather Motorsports Topeka, top notch shop.

Love this product.
Greatly improves response of engine, and helps manage heel-toe rev matching. Any reduced rotational weight is always a good.
