Direct-fit for all 2016-2018 Mazda MX-5 Miatas.

Includes thermostatic sandwich plate by default, we do not offer the non-thermostatic version of this kit unlike other vendors. Thermostats are ESSENTIAL in oil cooler systems for any street car and are even useful for most track applications.

Reduces oil temperatures by up to 57 F (29.5 C)
Minimal pressure drop
Application-specific mounting brackets mount the oil cooler in the front bumper area
Mounting brackets made from lightweight aluminum
Pre-made stainless steel braided oil lines with durable -AN fittings
Billet aluminum thermostatic oil sandwich plate
19-row stacked-plate oil cooler for optimal fluid temperature reduction
Thermostatic Sandwich Plate
Cooler available in either Sleek Silver or Stealth Black
Mishimoto Lifetime Warranty

Not needed in average daily drivers, but STRONGLY recommended for track and aggressive autocross use. If you are fast, track days can see the oil go to 300 F, and long before you reach that point the ECU aggressively pulls timing, responsiveness gets very soft, and the car gets slow. We used this in our ND for many track events, dropped our oil temps from 275/300 range down to 230F and less. Even aggessive autocross use without oil cooling got oil temps beyond 250 F and we found the stock ECU pulling timing, slowing us down, which was cured with this oil cooler. Note that once we added TURBO to our Racing ND this was not enough oil cooling for our racing use with our AVO Turbo and we started working on even bigger Setrab unit. We then moved our Mishimoto cooler to our Supercharged RF where it continues to serve us well.

Recommended torque specification for all straight fittings and banjo bolts: 15-25 ft/lbs (operating range). Do not exceed the maximum torque rating of 35 ft/lbs.

2019+ (ND2) UPDATE:

2023 Update: Mishimoto's supplied fitting in the ND2 adapter kit has been found to not fit correctly. Description of the ND2 adapter kit remains below for reference, but we are NOT selling this kit for ND2 until Mishimoto fixes this.

For 2019 and newer, Mazda added a heat exchange sandwich to dump oil heat into the coolant. This made Mishimoto's pre-existing oil cooler kit not compatible with the 2019+ cars without doing some DIY work. Mishimoto has now released a supplemental kit to their oil cooler kit that includes the additional bits you need to install this on 2019+ cars, eliminating the guesswork for you. This kit eliminates the factory oil/coolant mixer, instead diverting oil through the Mishimoto oil sandwich plate. The kit includes an allen key to remove the factory oil cooler/"mixer" center bolt. The kit also includes a male barbed union splice to join the two OEM coolant hoses, bypassing the stock oil cooler/mixer. The kit includes zip ties to move these lines out of the way of the Mishimoto Oil Cooler Kit. Lastly, this kit includes a new oil filter center bolt, used to install the Mishimoto oil filter sandwich plates. If you select 2019+ then you will get the full Mishimoto oil cooler kit PLUS the supplemental 2019+ kit so you get everything needed to install it on a 2019+.

*This kit will cause the oil filter to hang below the subframe on ND2 models (2019+) due to the thickness of the factory ND2 oil filter adapter. If installing on an ND2 model, Mishimoto recommends purchasing the ND1 oil filter adapter (PEES14311) and gasket (PEES-14-342) from Mazda.

ND Miata Mishimoto Oil Cooler Kit

For ND2:
Not exactly the easiest system to install. Mishimoto's attention to detail is lacking, and even they admit they haven't solved the "engineering error" on the stainless center bolt adapter (as of March 2023). But through shear persistence, I was able to get it installed and running.
I outlined my hassles & solutions in a series of 8 very short YouTube videos (my first YT videos by the way).
Here's the first of 8: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YtcLOc6ZZBs&t=15s
Bottom line: you can get it installed on ND2's by swapping the oil filter housing for an ND1 oil filter housing (PEES-14-311) and gasket (PEES-14-342). A little more hassle but not impossible. It will result in the oil filter hanging down 1/4" lower, but not significant in my opinion. The aluminum under tray does NOT interfere w/ the oil filter.
The 2 coolant hoses on either side of the OEM "cooler" will require the double male barbed adapter (from the 2019+ supplemental kit), OR you can use the longer of the 2 hoses to make the jump w/o the adapter (very tight space).
Here's my final video after installation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cuktxDt12dM&t=162s
So far 3 very hard track days on it and no issues.
