DESCRIPTION

This new ND radiator by CSF was developed with consultation by Goodwin Racing to be the best drop-in fitment high performance radiator for the ND. Direct fit for manual transmission models, with the most efficient core design in the industry. Automatic cars would need to add an external transmission cooler.

Features CSF's patented "B-Tube" technology - a specially engineered tube in a shape of a "B" that is carefully formed and then brazed over the seam to seal. CSF is able to use thinner and lighter aluminum material (better cooling efficiency) because this design is actually stronger than normal "O" shape tubes that are welded. What does all that mean? CSF has the most efficient tube design in the industry. High efficiency means the core doesn't need to be made extra thick to get the best cooling, so these radiators outperform other brands while remaining the lightest option as well.

This radiator is a drop-in fit in the 2016+ MX5 and includes CNC machined brackets to mate up to the factory locations.

INSTALLATION: Be sure to check clearance to all A/C condenser bits, factory was not incredibly consistent and sometimes condenser brackets need to be bent away from larger radiators for clearance, also check bolts on those brackets for clearance, etc.

Update 2019, testing found that in this application big single pass actually did better at the track so design reverted from triple pass to single going forward.

I completely agree with other reviewers. I did this as part of adding a SC. Very straightforward install with excellent fitment.

My Edelbrock supercharged ND with 6 psi boost was at 218 degrees peak with the vented hood and the spider open grill at hot July track sessions. In later July track sessions after installing this larger radiator filled with stay frosty-racing coolant, I experimented with blocking off the hood vents closed. The temps dropped to 212 peak, which was expected as the Edelbrock supercharged adds a third radiator upfront reducing optimal air flow to the main radiator. The next session I opened the hood vents to increase air flow out of the engine bay and temps dropped to 208 peak. I took engine temp data using a Aim Solo DL on a two mile track. Radiator fitment in the car was perfect and I used Mishimoto worm gear clamps to secure the hoses. These cooling system improvements really helped achieve steady stay temp control that felt good seeing, power never dropped, and she did seem happy and not running as before like an abused race pony once slowed down going in the paddock.

So far I am pleased with the radiator. Here in Deep East Texas it has been extremely hot this summer. We had 4 days in July below 100deg. My MX5 has an Edelbrock Supercharger. Driving during these hot days the temp gauge would creep up to 220-230 deg. Now that the radiator the only time the temp gauge rises is up heavy acceleration. The temp gauge drops back fairly quickly at cruise.
Well worth the investment.

Drop in fit makes this a no brainer upgrade. If you are a spirited driver, you will really appreciate the additional cooling headroom. Goodwin Racing customer service was exemplary as usual.
