Genuine Mazda 7" ring and pinion in 3.636:1 final drive ratio. Fits 1994-2005 differentials, as well as 2006-2015 differentials. We import these from Japan and have them in stock in the US!
Also available separately on our site, which you may want to get at the same time:
- Mazda axle seals (1994-2005), part # 61-3155 on our site
1990-1993 Miatas can run this ring and pinion if they use a differential and axles from a 1994-2005... a common upgrade for those years anyways to get the stronger 7" ring gear. 1990-1997 Miata speedometers are gear-driven rather than electric, so their speedometers will be slightly off.
1999-2005 use an electronic speed sensor. We used to sell a replacement speed sensor separately on our site that was calibrated for the 3.63 ratio, but Mazda has since discontinued that sensor (old Mazda part number M533-17-400A). So if you have a 99-05 you can try sourcing a sensor yourself, or just accept that your speedometer will be slightly off... or if in a race car then an aftermarket dash that uses wheel speed or GPS speed is a good work-around.
2006-2015 MX-5s use the wheel speed sensors for the speedometer, and can compensate for the change in gearing with an ECU tune.
