The widely popular Cobalt brand is now expanded with the addition of this 3-Point Shock Tower Brace for the newest fourth generation "ND" MX-5 Miata. As soon as our 2016 car was delivered from Mazda Cobalt went to work, and after crucial design time and many testing hours they are proud to bring this bar to market.
Oval section stainless steel tubing is mated to beautifully crafted tower supports. The welds on this brace are a work of art! Aside from the best craftsmanship available, this brace actually works. Patterned after Le Mans style chassis bracing, this piece mounts in three places tying the front shocks to the firewall. This ensures rigidity that cannot be duplicated by lesser quality braces that simply mount from shock tower to shock tower. Comes complete with instructions and all necessary hardware. INSTALLATION NOTES: Uses the stock hardware. If your ND Miata did not come with factory shock tower brace note you need to add the Mazda Cowl Mounting Bracket for Shock Tower Brace, our item 60-1238ND. Install of 60-1238ND is a challenge for average DIY owner, typically a mechanic will install the 60-1238ND bracket. If your ND Miata already has a stock tower brace then the cowl bracket is factory installed and swapping out just the shock tower brace is very easy, just 14 ft/lbs please on the shock tower and firewall nuts. I added this and the 4 piece undercarriage brace at the same time... so I can not say which piece did what... but the combination in addition to the Roadster Sport adjustable sway bars have the car ready to take on any road. It does look Great when you pop the hood. It was an EASY install.
After the Hard Dog roll bar (safety first) this was one of my first mods. Every Single Word of the review is true, this is a beautifully built piece which the picture fails miserably to show. Triangulation is key and when you look around at the "competitors" this is probably the best bar on the market. As a free benefit, it knocks the socks off people when you open the hood and they see this thing!
