DESCRIPTION
If you want to run LS coils on an NA or NB Miata, this is the kit for you. After years of real world performance and feedback, version 2 of this kit now includes new coils, and revised spark plug wires.
Fits all 1.8L 94-05 engines. 94-00 is direct bolt on, 01+ requires a bit of DIY fitting. The bracket is made from stainless steel and mounts D585 ignition coils.
If you have a 90-93 chassis with a 1.8L motor, you need to order the kit for the 90-93!
NOTE: "Plug and play" means it plugs into the car, no custom wiring necessary. This does NOT mean it works with the factory ECU. You must use a fully tuneable standalone ECU like the Megasquirt units we sell.
For many years this kit was supplied with used/refurbished OEM coils. Flow Force has tested coils from many aftermarket suppliers, and each time they found that they under performed the used OEM coils they were refurbishing. Finally, they found a partner who could produce a custom coil that exceeds OEM performance and consistency. It s this new custom coil that forms the basis of the V2 kit, and Flow Force continues to test every coil in house prior to shipping.
Coils may come in BLACK or RED, depending on fluctuating availability.
The harness is plug and play for your Miata, and was in development for almost a year to get it just right. Requires only repinning from your OEM harness into the provided connectors for OEM-level fit and finish. The harness is wired for batch ignition (wasted spark), or can be upgraded to sequential ignition by selecting the sequential option in the drop down menu and then additional wires will be supplied with the kit which you will need to run to the ECU to update it to sequential. Most customers will find that the wasted spark configuration is perfectly adequate.
The high performance 8.5mm plug wires are custom made for this kit and are a direct fit for 1994-2000 heads. The VVT head has very slightly smaller spark plug holes and can be made to fit with some trimming of the boot and fiddling - if you have a VVT head, consider this a DIY kit.
