I'm a complete newbie to working on cars so took me about 45-50 minutes (due to being overly cautious and because the directions could have been slightly more detailed) and was pretty easy. Like the one other reviewer said I wish the rubber part that goes into the throttle body was a little bit longer but was able to make it work. Having a second pair of hands as you tighten the clamps (to hold it together) would make it a bit easier also.
Took the car on a quick 5-7 min drive and I definitely noticed a nicer tone from the engine. I don't have anything else done to the exhaust, yet, so that probably helped me to tell the difference. It's not overly pronounced but it's definitely there. Very happy with this purchase.
I was not expecting much as everyone says Mazda got a lot out of the stock air box. Install took about 20 minutes and was very simple. A quick test drive and I was pleasantly surprised. Not a huge delta, however the revs climb a bit quicker and the car just feels a tad more spirited. If you want noise, this isn't the way to go, however, I did notice a deeper tone that complements the preexisting Borla nicely. Not much louder than stock, but certainly a more confident tone.
Pretty easy install. Wish the silicone boot was a little longer to make it easier to attach to throttle body. It should flow better due to the more direct design but I really couldn't tell a difference under WOT. Maybe a little more sound but could be my imagination. I had a little rubber piece left over. I'm not sure what it is for and don't see it on the install instructions.
