DESCRIPTION
Blackbird Fabworx engine drop mounts offer all the great benefits of a heavy duty aftermarket engine mount AND drop the engine 1/2" for improved handling. Versions for 1990-1993 1.6L Miata, 1994-2000 1.8L Miata, and later 2001-2005 1.8L Miata. If you've swapped your engine to a different year Miata engine, buy the correct mounts that match your engine year (not the chassis).
Complete replacement set to the factory engine mount setup with stronger bushing design for better durability.
If you do not want to drop the engine, these same mounts are available for stock engine height in another listing.
Comes with a choice of the Street Performance or Competition bushings. Both bushings are 70A durometer, the difference is in the size of the bushing - the street bushing is much larger, so it soaks up more vibration. The Street Performance bushings are geared towards the spiritedly driven street cars including some track use (at the cost of some increase in NVH) while the Competition bushings are the recommended only for heavy track users and dedicated race cars due to a significant increase in NVH.
These mounts reduce engine motion and thus offer a drastic improvement in shifting quality over the Mazda mounts, so say goodbye to the common mis-shifts!
The drop mounts lower the engine by about 1/2", setting the bottom of the oil pan flush with the bottom of the subframe. With the engine being the single heaviest component of the car, lowering it will lower the center of gravity, reducing weight transfer for improved cornering grip and better steering feel. Users report a noticeable change in how quickly the front end responds to steering inputs after installing the drop mounts!
Due to the million available combinations of header / intake / turbo / downpipe / etc.. we highly recommend that you verify that your engine has the room to move down 1/2" prior to ordering, and when in doubt - order the standard OEM height mounts. Drop mounts are NOT recommended for "slammed" Miatas!

Definitely improve steering and make your shifter feel more solid.
I got the street ones and they still cause a lot of vibrations and noise. Would not recommend for your car if you use it to take the lady out on a drive on the weekends-unless she is into Harleys.
If you mostly use your car for track events and spirited driving I would highly recommend.
Good, well made product. I got the drop mounts with the street compound.
If you have an otherwise stock miata I would not recommend these. They will make your car rattle at idle. Can be a little hard to live with on a daily driver.
If your car is heavily modified, these can be a good addition as they make steering inputs more immediate and you likely won't care about the added vibrations.
I wouldn't hesitate to buy these again and I recommend them if you want as much performance as possible from swapping engine mounts.
