PART NUMBER: 61-2973
CNC cut from solid aluminum and then anodized for a durable finish. The result is a rigid part that will last a lifetime.
The clutch pedal extension spacer gives you better reach to the clutch pedal. If you feel like you have the perfect seat position for your height, arms and legs... but when you press that clutch pedal all the way to the floor your leg has to stretch a bit, and you don't want to adjust the seat forwards to fix that because then you're too close to the wheel, then this is your solution.
This extension spacer adds 1.5" to the height of the clutch pedal so that your leg doesn't have to strain to get that pedal all the way down at stop lights, in traffic, etc.
Great for anyone with shorter legs, but also works to improve comfort for those of "average" height too. Tall guys with long legs - this isn't for you, because you don't have the problem that this item solves.
Install notes: You will need a 4mm allen wrench, which is NOT included, the T style shown beelow is the most easy style to use to open the two halves but a short 90 degree style is easier for working in the tight space under the dash. Remove the rubber grip from your factory clutch pedal. Then slide each half of the extension over the clutch pedal so that the metal pedal pad slides into the grooves inside the extension. Once both halves are on the pedal and merged together, install both bolts to hold the extension together (drop of thread locker won't hurt if you got it). Finally, install the rubber pedal pad onto the new extension. Note that the rubber is HARD to stretch over the extension. That's normal, and necessary for it to have a snug fit so that it doesn't move. A small metal pick with a bend in it can help you get the flap of the rubber underneath the lip of the extension. If your current rubber pedal pad is worn out or torn, it may not stay securely on the pedal extension. If it's easy to get the pad on/off, then it is likely worn thin and/or torn. You can get a fresh rubber pad from your Mazda or Fiat dealer.

Game changer for those who have to sit too close to the steering wheel to fully depress the clutch! I'm in a much better driving position now. Can't believe I drove my last ND for 3 years without this!
Bought this clutch pedal extension before I even bought the car. Initial test drive indicated I would be sitting way too close to the steering wheel to comfortably depress the clutch pedal. Install was a breeze and took all of 3 minutes using the metal hook tool trick to remove the rubber piece and reinstall on the extension. Depressing the clutch is much more comfortable and I don't have to sit with my chin touching the steering wheel. 10/10 would buy again or go back in time and drink more milk as a child.
I want to sing this products praises, but also want to share my hesitance from falling in love with it, as others may encounter the same thing.
First things first, Goodwins service and pricing was fantastic. Shipped immediately, nicely packaged. Zero issues there. Oh, and major kudos for coming up with such a wonderful solution for an issue most of us experience.
The product itself? Absolute quality. Has a decent heft to it without being too heavy for the application, precisely machined and nicely anodized. Fitment is spot on. Hardware is good. Installation is VERY easy if you install the pad to the extension first, then clamshell it around the original pedal like some other reviewers have mentioned.
Upon first test drive, I found the new friction point of the clutch to be much better suited for me, allowing for cleaner, non-notchy shifts with proper clutch engagement. However, with my seat further back, my left foot now no longer comfortably reaches the dead pedal. I joked with my wife that this solved one problem and introduced another.
I think the reality is; I need more seat time. I think if this extension was about half the height, it would have been a more natural adaptation for me. But as of now, I'm accepting that the position that I've always driven my Miata in was very compromised, with my left hip slight cocked forward just to be able to better press the clutch in. This will take some miles and some unlearning of bad habits to get myself accustomed to sitting flat and correctly in the seat. Only then will I be able to fairly judge what this product has done for me. At the moment, I'm convinced that I need my dead pedal to be extended the same amount for it to feel natural and comfortable. But as time goes on, this may not be the case...
I'll update my review as time goes on. If Goodwin is doing any prototype testing for a shorter version, keep me in mind!
OUTSTANDING PRODUCT - TERRIBLE INSTRUCTIONS
I bought this for my 2020 GT and once installed I wished I had done it sooner. My right leg is now in a natural position instead of at an awkward uncomfortable angle, and with the seat farther back in the cockpit there's more usable space. Getting in and out is much easier as well. Best mod ever for driving comfort!
I removed it before selling the '20 so that I could install it on my new '24 RF.
On that first installation I made the mistake of following the instructions. This time I pried the rubber pad off of the pedal easily using a trim removal tool, without the need for any lubrication or heating. Once removed I snapped it onto the assembled extension while it was on my workbench, then opened it up clam shell-like and closed it around the pedal & clamped it tight.
Now compare that to the first installation on my 2020 where I wasted over an hour scrunched up on the floor under the dashboard with repeated failures....
Here's one rare example where reading the installation instructions will do you no favors.
Exactly what I was looking for!
Easy install, like making a sandwich while under the kitchen sink.
Well made and precise. Perfect for those who like to sit further back without having to worry about fully engaging the clutch and tiring out the left leg. Iâve had this for a month now and donât even notice the difference. Installing the OEM rubber pad may present a bit of a challenge but I found it easy to install one corner first and use a pick hook to settle the rest.
Had one of these on my NC and it was super. Bought the nd last october (2023) and almost immediately put one on the ND. After several thousand miles I was thinking that maybe i really didn't need it and took it off. I drove it only a hundred miles and went home and put it back on. I am 5'11" tall and the extension allows me to put the seat further back and allows my knees to be back out from between the center console and the door making the position much more comfortable for longer drives. It is much more comfortable for my 5'2" wife as miatas are known for requiring the clutch pedal to be pressed to the floor. Without it she would have to sit with the wheel tight into her lap. Rubber pad is a bit hard to get on but keep it warm and flexible and it eventually goes on. Putting it back on i put the rubber pad securely on the inboard extension half before installing the two halves. That left only the outboard section to worked into place. Since this is the section you can see easily it was easy to see and work into place.
Great product!

Installed this part on my 2017 MX-5. First, the part is a really heavy duty, well designed and engineered, simple and well manufactured. The final fit of all the parts is really close and promises to last forever. The assembly of the extension clam shell around the metal clutch plate is super easy and the fit has absolutely no play in it (I guess that's why it costs $90). However, I did find properly fitting the rubber clutch plate cover to the pre-assembled clam shell while under the dash of the car really HARD, even after the application of heat with a hair dryer. After becoming frustrated, I tried the procedure suggested above by Philp D. I disassembled the clam shell extension and fitted the rubber clutch pad (one side at a time) before attaching the whole assembly to the clutch plate. Attaching the rubber cover is much easier because you can see what you're doing and you're not folded up like a yogi under your dash. Once the rubber cover is properly fit, you can gently spread the rear of the clam shell assembly apart and slip it over the metal clutch plate. Whole thing snaps into place and you simply bolt it up. Took me about 20 minutes beginning to end.... thanks Philip! Took the car out on a run today and the extension works as advertised. I recommend this mod to anybody who hasn't been able to find a fixed seat position for their MX-5 due to issues of clutch manipulation in different driving situations, e.g., everyday traffic vs track-like applications. Good stuff.
Just installed this. I haven't had a chance to drive with it yet but working the clutch feels much better. My wife who's 5'2" likes the way she can move the seat back 2-3 clicks. I can also move the seat back a few clicks too.
I had a hard time getting the pedal cover back on after installing the extension. I put the cover with the extension off the pedal. I left the halves unbolted and spread them apart and onto the pedal itself then bolted it together. A little blue Loctite for safety.
Easy install. This addition makes a tremendous difference! Now I don't have to sit so close to the steering wheel but still have a comfortable and effective clutch pedal position. Definitely recommend this well-crafted addition.
I too am "vertically challenged" but have a tall torso which has made for some weird seating positions in various sports cars over the years. I bought this on a whim, used a small flat head screwdriver to pop the pedal cover off of the pedal, soaked it in extremely hot water, and then had the extension installed in 20 minutes or less. Great mod!
This is exactly what I needed. Allows me to move the seat back for a more comfortable seating position.
Great product! I'm 5'6" and noticed occasional missed shifts when shifting quickly. After seeing this product, and considering that I would like my seat to be back more to ease entry/exit so I wouldn't keep contacting the door with my foot when exiting, I thought I'd give it a try. The clutch pedal extension is a decided improvement! I sit back a bit further, can depress the clutch firmly and improved my shifting! It is much more comfortable for me. Heating the rubber cover to help stretch it over the extension is a must and makes the installation go much more quickly. Overall i'd highly recommend this clutch pedal extension for anyone who has shorter legs and would like a more comfortable rearward seating position and less stretch to fully depress the clutch.
