DESCRIPTION

Upgrade your rear brakes to lightweight and rigid 4-Piston calipers, AND keep your parking brake! Great match to the Brembo front brakes or any of our own front caliper upgrades or big brake kits. Fits right over your factory rotors, no need to change rotors to run this kit (photo shows installed with our rear Superlight wave rotors, available separately on this site).

Weight
This caliper kit is 4 lbs lighter per side than the factory caliper. Combine this kit with our scalloped 2-piece drop-in replacement rotors shown in the photo above and save over 12 lbs of unsprung weight in the rear!

This rear caliper conversion is considered a RACE upgrade for those seeking lightest weight, fast pad changes, and other performance benefits. However, the trade off is you give up most of the parking brake function. This caliper does have a parking brake, but it is severely limited in its clamping ability. While many performance minded individuals do use this rear caliper kit on their road cars, we recommend against it if you actually need to use your parking brake from time to time, or if you live in an area that requires periodic inspections of the car for registration which may include checking parking brake function.

BRIAN'S APPLICATION NOTES: I love the combo of our front and rear caliper conversions, braking from speed is much improved, looks are improved, even ride quality is much better because unsprung weight is reduced a lot. But there is one compromise in using this style of caliper in the rear, the parking brake function is not near as effective as the stock parking brake. I learned to always curb the wheels when I first learned to drive but that becomes doubly important here because the parking brake is not as effective as the stock parking brake. So, the other way to go is some folks do front and rear light two-piece rotors, front caliper conversion, and use our RED caliper paint to make the rear stock caliper RED so it better matches the front new calipers while still keeping full stock parking brake function. Note that something that helps a ton on giving more stock like grab of the parking brake is adjust the 10mm bolt at the factory handbrake handle all the way down.

Dust Boots
We occasionally get a call from someone asking if these calipers have dust boot seals because the factory calipers have them and so they assume this is a feature they need to be concerned about. Wilwood brake calipers, just like all racing brake calipers, do not use dust boots to seal the caliper pistons. This is intentional and done for several reasons, including the point that rubber dust boots can catch fire under extreme brake heat. The pistons fit tightly into the caliper so they seal without the need for rubber seals. In our decades of experience with thousands of Wilwood calipers this design has proven itself completely reliable. These calipers are suitable for road use in all climates and conditions as well as on the race track.

We have not tried this with 2023 Kinematic Posture Control.

Goodwin Racing ND Ultralight Rear 4 Piston Caliper Upgrade

I was on the same dilemma as everyone that has upgraded the front brake system and were thinking of painting rear stock caliper red or getting this rear kit. Luckily I made the right choice by getting the kit. Overall braking efficiency has improved by 25%-30%. It just brakes really hard and it gives you a lot of confidence. By loosing those extra 8 pounds car just feels smoother through turns. It feels like the right amount of grip and yes it does feel looser than before but that car still holds really good. For cosmetics reason the matching pair front and rear looks amazing!!!

Now, this brake kit comes with BP-20 pads which are supposed to be a little bit more agressive than BP-10. During the brake in period of the pads and my new plain rotor, the squeaky noise when breaking lightly under 20 mph it was driving me crazy... It took 400 miles for the noise to disappeared, so be patient during the break in period. It got to the point I ordered BP-10 pads to change it with the BP-20 but luckily the sound has disappeared so I'm keeping my BP-20. I have heard that some people have sound issues with BP-20 on light breaking so keep that in mind.

Parking brake function is working really good.. all you need to do is tight the 10mm bolt in the cabin all the way down and use some washers to get the right tension on it. I feel so many people don't buy this kit because they are scared of loosing the parking brake function, which is crazy since it has an easy fix and you will still have your parking brake + cosmetic improvement and most importantly performance benefits. Thank you Goodwin!

Easy install, nice appearance to match the upgraded front brakes. Parking brake function is minimal.
